Fab Faces: Brit Beauty, Lily Allen
HOMEThis week's Fab Faces features the rambunctious and oh-so-beautiful Lily Allen (who I have long had a girl crush on!)
This bella-riffic Brit is the perfect lady to fawn over this week. As our last week in May, with our 'Pamper Yourself, Pamper Your Mum' theme, we are sending some big love to new mum Lily, as well as commemorating all things British for the Queen's Jubilee celebrations!
Who could forget Lily Allen's infectious tune 'Smile'? The sweet vocals almost hid the malice in Lily's words "At first when I see you cry, it makes me smile, yeah it makes me smile" This cheeky - and truthful - side to Lily's music made her a hit from the start. After garnering thousands of views of her clips on her MySpace page, Lily signed her first record deal and released her debut album "Alright, Still". Followed by the insanely popular "It's Not Me, It's You", Lily cemented herself in the musical world as a headstrong artist with a huge talent for conveying universally familiar emotions (to young women at least!) in a blunt, yet entirely lyrically endearing way.
Since taking a break from music Lily has undertaken a new venture; branching out into fashion! Her love of glam duds is hardly surprising considering Lily has also fronted a campaign for Chanel under Karl Lagerfeld! She opened her vintage store 'Lucy In Disguise' with her sister Sarah Owen in 2010, which now also has their own name-branded clothing that is sold on one of our favourite online stores, theoutnet.
Lily has also since gotten hitched and given birth to a daughter, Ethel, in late 2011. We love that Lily stuck to her vintage inspired style with a lace dress and headpiece, both of which suit her perfectly.
Speaking of Lily's individual style, we can't help but speculate about what products we'd find in her cosmetics case!
Lily has beautiful brown eyes and often chooses to accentuate them. Whether you like a heavy eye or a bold lip, you can't go past a great mascara - I recommend the Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Extreme Lengthening Mascara. Since trying this baby out, I've been reaching for it every morning, making it a firm favourite in my beauty routine. It subtly lengthens my lashes, and softly separates them; the amazing rubber bristles interlock with lashes like a zipper! Plus it is easily removed, which is another real bonus in my books when it comes to eye makeup - I'd definitely recommend Bobbi Brown to Lily without any hesitation!
Lily has often deviated from long to short hair and even gone blonde! We must say, we love her best with her textured dark 'do, which just seems to suit her personality down to the ground (well we think so anyway!) For hair that is as textured and voluminous as Lily's, we recommend trying a great volume enhancing shampoo and conditioner. Our current favourites are the Sebastian Professional Volupt Shampoo and Conditioner which gives hair volume, without weighing it down with the use of cushion particle technology.
As a new mum, we bet Lily has lost a little time for beauty sleep! If your peepers are a little tired too, try Avéne's Eluage Eye Contour Cream. This cream helps to reduce the depth of wrinkles around the eye area and works to reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark shadows.
Lastly, everyone needs a little colour in their lives and the easiest way to add some into your look is with a lipgloss. At the moment we are loving Silk Oil of Morocco Lip Gloss. Throw one in each bag and you will never be without a touch of shimmer, or moisturised lips again! For Lily we'd pick Moroccan Desert - a lovely shimmery pink - to wear during the day and the Moroccan Spice - a warmer cinnamon tone - for night. These glosses are also great to apply whilst out and about as they are infused with a refreshing spearmint oil which is also naturally lip plumping!
Do you love Lily as much as we do? I must admit I was slightly devastated when Lily announced she was leaving music for good - but now I'm hopeful of her return, since earlier this year it was reported she was planning a musical comeback. Please do Lily! We need more of your tunes!
We hope Lily has fun celebrating the jubilee this weekend and that little Ethel isn't wearing mum out too much! What is your favourite of Lily's songs? It's a tough choice! For me it's a toss up between 'Who'd Have Known' and 'The Fear'! Now spill yours! - Lauren
