Fab Faces: The stunning Sophie Falkiner

HOME

This week we were extremely excited to chat with the beautiful Sophie Falkiner and couldn't wait to feature her as one of our Fab Faces for the month of June. Read on for Sophie's take on beauty, body image and beach holidays!

What does the concept of 'beauty' mean to you?

Concept of beauty...... Laughter, an inner glow, confidence and passionate people.

Our theme at bellabox this month is ‘Winter Escape’. Do you like to get away to somewhere warm during the colder months? Or are you more of a ‘coats and boots’, winter girl at heart?

Well I just got back from Bali which I adored. It was so lovely to feel warm weather and not have to wear layers of clothing. I'm definitely a girl who loves the beach! Next weekend we are going down the South Coast with a group of friends to read books, make yummy baked lunches, drink nice wine and relax. I can't wait. So I like a little of both.

Do you change your beauty routine when it starts to get cold? If so, what are some of your favourite, comforting beauty products for winter?

Yes, I use more hydrating products on my skin. Like Supermoist from Skin Doctors on my face and I also  carry my Carmex everywhere I go for my lips so they don't chap and peel. In the shower, I use a hydrating body wash like Palmolive's luscious mango body wash to keep my whole body from going dry. It really works!

And what is your can’t-live-without beauty product for anytime of the year?

Without a doubt, sunscreen. It's the one product I can't live without. I just wish I used it more religiously in my 20s. It's the one thing (sun) that ages you more than anything else.

Working as a spokesperson for Berlei and Wonderbra must have made you re-evaluate your own body image. What are your personal tips for staying body confident?

Don't over analyze your body. Be grateful that it works and that it's healthy. Be kind to yourself and don't focus on your flaws. Everyone has them, even supermodels... Try to eat good food and exercise, but also balance it out with treats and a little bit of rest and sleep. I have never obsessed about my body, I thank my mother for never talking about diets or obsessing about food either. I have never starved myself, and I have  been known to eat hot chips before a shoot; there is always re-touching !!!

Having worked across many TV programs, such as Wheel of Fortune and The Great Outdoors, have you learned any great tips or tricks from getting your makeup applied by the professionals?

Yes, invest in a great foundation that matches perfectly. Work out colors that suit your eyes and skin tone. Never do a heavy eye and lip. Blend, blend , blend around your jaw line, on your eyes and with your bronzer and blush. Try and take a compact mirror out into  the natural light before a big event to make sure you haven't over done it. As you age, less is more when it comes to make-up.

We totally agree that it is best to choose either a heavy eye OR a lip - not both at once! For the perfect heavy eye we recommend the MeMeMe Smokey Eye Pack which come with all the tools you could ever want to recreate the perfect smoldering smokey eye. Choose a sheer and simple gloss to complement the look; our pick? Yes to Carrots C Me Shine Lip Gloss in Playful Nude.

Or if you prefer a bold lip and a subtle eye? We love Savoir Faire Lipstick in Risqué paired with Napoleon Perdis Créme de la Créme Eyeshadow in Quicksilver, a sheer and light colour that looks fantastic against almost any skintone.

We'd love to thank Sophie for her time and especially for her insightful beauty and body image tips. Do you prefer to play up your eyes or your lips? And are you a winter or a summer girl? Let us know bellas! - Lauren
