Wednesday Write Up: Thinking pink in your beauty routine

HOME

October is breast cancer awareness month, and here at bb we are more than aware that breast cancer has most likely touched many within our wonderful community - especially considering the wider bb network is predominantly female.

And what a fantastic female community we are! We love hearing all of our members' and followers' thoughts when it comes to beauty. After all, beauty is our driving force! But beauty is just as much about feeling good as looking good, which is why it's important to give a little back where ever you can. So today, we thought we'd give you our list of bb brand partners (some new for October - hooray!) who all support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) or Look Good Feel Better.

Did you know that the Estée Lauder Companies include bb top brands, Clinique, Bobbi Brown and DKNY too? This beauty giant knows the importance of supporting the people who use their products. In fact, in 2000, Estée Lauder Companies’ awareness efforts expanded with The Estée Lauder Companies’ Global Landmarks Illumination Initiative. This fantastic campaign has seen hundreds of famous buildings, monuments and landmarks illuminated in glowing pink lights to empower and enlighten millions across the world! Their efforts for the NBCF in Australia is just as impressive, both through their donation of products and funding breast cancer research.

We love this pretty pink set! Bobbi Brown will donate $14.00 from the sale of this limited-edition blush and brush duo to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Pink Peony Illuminating Bronzer and Mini Face Blender Brush, available while stocks last.

And skincare fans, don't forget - when purchasing Estée Lauder Perfectionist, Estée Lauder will donate $20 from every sale to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Beauty lovers' fave Clinique supports both the NBCF and Look Good Feel Better, a free community service program dedicated to helping Australians cope with the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, such as hair loss and changes to the skin. Every year, the iconic brand, known best for their skincare, offers a special, limited edition bottle of its best-selling, cult classic Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. This year, it features a cute Clinique key ring that any gal worth her eye cream will adore! Buying the Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm in a special limited-edition shade will also see $5.00 go straight from your wallet to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, to make a real difference.

Another one of our fave brands doing their bit? Palmer's! They've released another version of their 'Pink Ribbon' bottles this year, with 30 cents from every limited-edition 2012 Palmer’s Pink Ribbon Bottle sold donated to the cause. Same amazing Palmer's scent, but in a cute pink bottle. What's not to love?

Hair care power brand Cedel have also donated over $75,000 to breast cancer research. We love their Blow Dry Faster Protector, which not only protects strands, but also helps your hair dry faster. Winner!

Another long time bb fave has also supported the cause and helped those affected to feel a little better - Sally Hansen. Last year, they raised over $20,000 alongside Priceline for Look Good Feel Better, with their initiative to set a new Guinness World Record for the most nails filed and varnished in eight hours. Not only did 100 manicurists file and polish 25,720 fingernails, beating the previous record of 1,897 mini-manicures set by the London College of Beauty Therapy in 2010, they also spread the word about breast cancer awareness. For a speedy mani on the go, we love their Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Fast Dry Nail Colour.

Another beauty brand with a conscious? Nak's Care range also proudly supports breast cancer research.

Last, but by no means least, delish sweet treat brand Chocolatier have also partnered with the NBCF to create two special gift boxes to raise a significant amount of much needed money for breast cancer research. If you haven't tried their amazing goods yet, we strongly suggest you do! They are a big fave in the bb office!

How do you support this very worthy and amazing cause? Please share your stories with us. And remember to purchase these special pink products this month to help make a difference! - Lauren
