New mums have a LOT to juggle, so a few guilty pleasures are very necessary to maintain some sanity. Go on and live a little, you’ve earned it!
#1 – Nap time = mum time.
How heavenly is it when your baby (miraculously!) has an extra long nap and your me time doesn’t get interrupted?! And how furious does it make you when your partner/dog/phone/doorbell wakes the little one up?!
#2 – Bub’s leftovers = your snack.
Let’s face it, half of the time your bub eats better than you do, and some of that stuff is really tasty! Case in point, this organic mango, peach and banana puree from Bubs. Yum!
#3 – ‘Play dates’.
Yes, it’s very important for little people to learn social skills. But it’s also a perfect, guilt-free opportunity to catch up with your other mum friends and discuss Real Housewives.
#4 – Shopping.
No, not for you! Bet you haven’t done that in months… But shopping for babies and little kids is the BEST, no? It’s like having a living, breathing doll to dress up (even better when they can’t complain yet), and the spending doesn’t count if it’s not for you, right?... Right?
Babies are such busy little people, so you can legitimately claim you don’t have time to read heavy literature as there are too many interruptions. Trashy mags make the perfect fast and furious read in those rate moments of peace.
You’re still carrying a few extra pounds after the birth, you need wash and wear fabrics to mop up the spills and bodily fluids, and you’re constantly bending to pick toys up off the floor. Activewear just makes sense. And planning to exercise is half the battle, right?
