Struggle to leap out of bed every morning? Arrive at work with a coffee stain on your blouse and a general air of disarray? It needn’t be so, bellas! Here are 11 sure-fire ways to become a smug Morning Person.
1. Let there be light!
It’s tempting to sleep in a pitch black cocoon, but it’s easier for the body to perk up if it’s exposed to natural light in the AM. Either leave the blinds open a little overnight, or make sure you let in the sunshine the moment your alarm goes off.
2. Wake up to your favourite song
Speaking of alarms, you’ll dread yours a whole lot less if it belts out your favourite power tune! If you’re using your phone, make sure you place it across the room, not next to the bed. That way you’ll have to physically get up to switch it off, and won’t fall into the snooze button trap.
3. Be a creature of habit
This means going to bed and waking up at the same time each day. Trust us, it’ll make this Morning Person business a whole heap easier!
4. Become a weather girl
Take the stress out of the morning wardrobe rummage by checking the weather the night before and laying out your outfit, even down to the accessories. It’ll save time and ensure you’ll always rock up to work in matching socks.
5. Have some ‘me time’ over a cuppa
Any super successful person will tell you the importance of their morning rituals: the little slice of ‘me time’ they carve out to plan their day. Brew yourself a refreshing cup of Twining’s Morning Tea blend, and take ten minutes for yourself. Read the news online, review today’s to-do list, set your intentions, or try journaling. They’re all great options!
6. Munch on overnight oats
A healthy and satisfying breakfast is essential to power you through till lunch time. Or at least morning tea! Prep yours the night before so there’s no excuse to grab a croissant at the train station. Overnight oats are a nutritional winner and taste deeelish too. Try this strawberry chia version!
7. Use an energising body wash or scrub
Make shower time count with a zesty body wash or scrub that wakes you up and makes your skin glow. At One Skincare Toning Coffee Scrub smells like your morning brew, with freshly ground organic coffee beans, jojoba oil and orange peel to soften the skin as it gently exfoliates and boosts the circulation.
8. Blow dry your hair the night before
Cos ain’t nobody got time for that in the morning. If your hair’s limper than limp biscuit (me!), you’ll love John Frieda’s 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment. Pop it on in the shower after your shampoo and conditioner and you’ll have DAYS of amped-up body.
9. Faux a bronzed glow
Ever look in the mirror first thing in the morning and see the walking dead… Save time on your makeup routine by using a little gradual tanner the night before. You’ll immediately be feelin’ yourself when you see that fresh, sun-kissed glow in the reflection.
10. Do a mini workout
Don’t have time for a full-on AM sweat sesh or prefer to work out at night? That’s a-ok – a mini workout will do! Getting moving will increase blood flow and make you feel lively. So try to do some squats or calf raises while brushing your teeth. Or go for a brisk walk or jog if you have time – the endorphin boost’ll be worth it.
11. Try a new lipstick!
Make your mornings more interesting by trying out your latest beauty buy. There’s nothing like a shiny new lippie or creamy blush to put a spring in your step!
