Summer often hogs the limelight as the fun season of colour, but why not alter your perception of Winter Autumn palettes and shake up your makeup. Here are three ways with colour this season...
METALLICS
Metallics are the hero of this seasons' makeup palettes and for good reason - they add just enough shimmer and shine to give your face a little lift in the dreary depths of winter. There are a few ways to add metallics to your look. For an all over touch of bronze, look to the MeMeMe Shimmer Stack. Another metallic makeup product for the face? The OCC Loose Colour Concentrate. This peachy shimmer looks great when blended into the temples as a highlighter, but can also be used on eyelids too! Multi-tasker!
Elsewhere in metallics for the eyes, a creamy shadow is also a great way to add glimmer, as it's nice and blendable - plus, a little goes a long way! The Napoleon Perdis version is the perfect mushroom pink - very flattering on all eye shades. If a deeper gold is more your thing, the Glamorous Minerals Shadow will be your top pick. Add a touch of charcoal to the look, and you've got the tools for a similar deep and daring metallic eye as pictured above.
Swapping out your black eyeliner for bronze pencil is another great way to add a touch of fun to your wintery look. I love the Eye of Horus Bronze Amulet Liner. Or, if your eye makeup could do with an allround refresh, the MeMeMe Goddess Eyes pack gives you everything you need for the perfect golden bronzed smoky eye, all in one handy kit.
NEUTRALS
Neutrals don't often get the credit they deserve. Sure, monochrome nails might not be as fun to flash as a neon orange or pretty pink in summer, but they will compliment more fashion choices. Beauty and wardrobe clashing, be gone! Some of my favourite shades for a winter appropriate mani include dove grey, beige and black. Keep nails short and filed into a semi-square, semi-circular shape, and they'll look classy, not witchy.
Neutral makeup is also the most flattering kind about. It stays true to your natural colourings, without adding anything too OTT to the mix. Perfect for winter, when bulky fashions can overwhelm your look in a heartbeat. Try a natural creamy rose blush to add a little flush, like the Bloom Cream Blush Duo, before sweeping a little of the illuminator on top.
Wine lips are not longer something to shy away from! Perfect when keeping the rest of your beauty look simple, a pop of deep red is ideal for winter. Try the LAQA and Co. Ring of Fire Fat Lip Pencil (part of the gift box set). Or, if you like a lighter, glossy look, the Silk Oil of Morocco Gloss in Ruby will be your go to.
3 ways with colour, plenty of ways to wear it. What is your favourite Wintery shade to wear when it gets cold? Let me know!
