While we all want healthy, glowing skin, we also have different ideas about how much glow is a good idea, and we don’t all want to resemble a disco ball. That’s where highlighter drops come in – genius little illuminating drops that can be used for strategic strobing, bronzing, or all-over radiance, depending on your preference.
Highly concentrated and easy to use, Appeal Cosmetics Highlighter Drops (in all our October boxes!) come with a cute little dropper and are infused with bronzing and illuminating properties to give you a drop-dead gorge complexion. In three luxe shades – Bronze, Platinum and Gold – there are a bunch of different ways to use them. Here are six of our faves.
1. In Your Sunscreen
Want to go bare faced at the beach but still look HOT? Mix one or two highlighter drops in with your sunscreen for a subtle sheen (best avoided if you’re an oily type). We also love playing up our collar bones and décolletage for a sun-kissed goddess effect.
2. Under Foundation
If your skin is already pretty darn flawless, try mixing a drop or two into your primer, moisturiser or foundation for extra radiance. This will give a subtler, less intense glow than you will achieve by applying over your base. If your skin needs a little help and some coverage from foundation and concealer, apply those first before turning your hand to strobing – discussed below.
3. To Catch the Light
Strategically placed highlighter – on the contours of your face that naturally catch the light – can be a beautiful way to enhance and subtly sculpt your natural features. Try applying your liquid illuminator to the brow bone, high points of the cheeks and cupid’s bow. Applying down the bridge of the nose can also slim larger features.
4. On the Body
Highlighter’s not just for the face! For extra radiance, mix some in with your body lotion, or apply directly to your six-pack, shoulders or collarbones.
5. To Boost Your Bronzer
To get even more bang for your bronzer buck, try applying your liquid highlighter on top of your powder bronzer.
6. To Fake Wide-Awake Eyes
Been burning the candle at both ends? A touch of liquid highlighter in the inner corner of your eyes can work all kinds of magic! It can also help eyes appear larger – just pop a little right in the centre of your eyelid. You’re welcome ☺
