It’s a fact – bellabox members love beauty hacks. Luckily for you, so does everyone at bellabox HQ. This time around we’re focusing on beauty hacks that make your products last longer and allow you to get more out of them.
From broken compacts to extending the life of a lipstick, we’ve got plenty of tips and tricks for you to try!
1. Oil Can Revive Dried Out Products
Do you have a cream eyeshadow or blush that is all dried up and cracked? Add a few drops of facial oil to the surface of the product and mix it in with a brush. You’ll see it instantly come back to life. Pictured here is Sukin Facial Treatment Oil, a beautiful blend of argan, maracuja, rosehip and jojoba oils.
2. Fix A Cracked Powder Compact With Rubbing Alcohol
Smashing your favourite bronzer or powder is a nightmare. If you’re lucky enough not to have dropped it all over your bathroom floor, you can heal and repair it. Squeeze a few drops of rubbing alcohol onto the cracked powder until it is damp, and then use a spoon to push it all back into shape. Allow to dry completely. Isocol rubbing alcohol is available from Priceline, chemists and supermarkets.
3. Cut Open Skincare Products To Use Every Last Drop
Think your moisturiser is completely used up? You’d be surprised how much product is still lurking inside the tube. Carefully cut open a plastic squeezy tube and then scrape out the excess product with a tube. Store it in a little tub or jar. This is also good for using up liquid foundation. Pictured here is meditree tea tree hydrator, a fantastic moisturiser that won’t increase oiliness.
4. Revive Dried Up Mascara
Got a tube of mascara that has dried up way too quickly? Add a little bit of saline solution or eye drops into the tube. Then close the lid firmly and shake it up. It will be as good as new.
5. Make The Most Of Face Wipes
Do you use face wipes to clean your face while you’re applying makeup? Maybe you use one to even out your eyeliner or remove traces of mascara that have transferred to your lids. Since you probably don’t use the entire wipe, try cutting one into strips. Then you can seal the excess sheet inside the packet.
6. Get To The Bottom Of Your Lipstick
Is your favourite lipstick all finished? There’s actually often a decent amount hiding at the bottom of the tube. Use a cotton bud or lip brush to access the remnants of your lipstick and apply is straight to your lips.
7. Turn A Regular Eyeliner Into A Gel Eyeliner
A little heat can turn your regular pencil eyeliner into a long lasting gel liner! Just hold the tip of your eyeliner above a candle or lighter for a few seconds to heat up and voila! Instant gel liner. It should be warm but not burning hot when you apply it to your eyes.
Now it’s your turn to share. How do you make the most of your products? Let us know in the comments!
