Australian actress Anna Bamford has gone from strength to strength since graduating from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2012. After taking up the role of Miranda in beloved TV show Wonderland for 3 seasons she quickly became one of our favourite new talents. Anna was recently cast in the play The Present and has taken on the role of Australian ambassador for ModelCo. We are sampling one of ModelCo’s latest product innovations this month – their new shadow sticks – so we caught up with her to discuss travel, beauty and red carpet moments.
At bellabox we love makeup and beauty, so we’re really excited that you are now a ModelCo ambassador! How did that come about?
I have always loved ModelCo products. I remember as a teenager, being obsessed with Tan Airbrush in a Can and loving the hot pink packaging. When Shelley Barrett (Founder and CEO of ModelCo) rang me and asked me to be an Australian ambassador for the brand I jumped at the chance! It was so exciting to receive the entire ModelCo collection and I have enjoyed trialling products across all three categories – natural skincare, cosmetics and self-tanning.
Do you have any beauty secrets or must-have products that help to keep you on your game when travelling?
At the moment I am loving the new ModelCo Lash and Line Superlash Mascara and Liquid Eyeliner – the 2-in-1 feature is genius! I love playing up my eyes and this is a handy product to take on the road with me. I always travel with my ModelCo Rosehip Luxury Facial Oil – I love applying it to my skin.
We know you best from Wonderland, one of our favourite TV shows! What’s it like being part of such a beloved show?
I think the show is so wonderful because everyone can relate to it in some way.
Next up we’ll be seeing you on stage in STC’s The Present, what can you tell us about that?
I'm in the middle of rehearsing The Present by Andrew Upton. It's his adaptation of Chekhovs Platanov and he's set it in 1995 Russia. It's been great working on something so different to Wonderland. The cast is full of people I've admired for years so it's been a great learning experience for me.
What is it like working with acting legends Cate Blanchett and Richard Roxburgh?
It's been really inspiring. They're both so generous and they make the rehearsal room a really warm and welcoming place. When they're rehearsing scenes I'm not in I'll sit up the back and watch. It's like an acting masterclass watching them every day. I feel incredibly lucky.
Is there a difference between the makeup you wear on screen and the makeup worn on stage?
I think that depends on a lot of things like what character you're playing or how big the theatre is you're playing in. At WAAPA I did my own stage make up.

We imagine you’ve spent a bit of time in the makeup chair, have you picked up any cool beauty tips and tricks along the way?
How to rock a bold eye! It’s all about that top lash line and curling your eyelashes. ModelCo Turbo Lashwand Heated Eyelash Curler is perfect for creating dramatic lashes, and ModelCo Shadow Sticks create beautiful depth.
What are your makeup essentials for a red carpet event?
I love old-school glamour – a classic red lip, really defined eyes and bronzed, glowing skin. This year for the Logies I wore ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in Purple Sangria which looked fabulous and stayed on all night. I think a primer is really important too, ModelCo Face Base does the trick. Also I am a big fan of ModelCo One Night Tan.
What are the top three products that you can’t live without?
ModelCo More Brows, ModelCo Lash and Line Superlash Mascara and Liquid Eyeliner and Dior Addict perfume
