High fashion’s night of nights, the Met Gala, has arrived, marking the star-studded opening of the Costume Institute’s annual exhibit. This year’s exhibit? Manus x Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology. From R2-D2-chic to feathered femmes, here’s who nailed the brief. We’re calling it – best year ever!
We were utterly bedazzled by the beautiful Br-it Girl, bedecked in sparkling, plunging, beaded, fringed Marchesa. With her vampy makeup, crystal choker and poker-straight lengths she’s like some kind of goth mermaid. The perfecting melding of timelessness and modernity.
Look at her! It’s just so gorgeous, we have to show you from all angles.
Co-chair Taylor stuck with her new uber-sexy mantra in a cut-out metallic mini dress, with towering strappy black heels. Her edgy bleached mop and deep lip colour was tempered with the feminine ruffles on her dress. It’s clear that little Taylor is all grown up and fierce TayTay is here to stay.
Rosie played it safe in this ivory gown from Ralph Lauren collection, but we’ll let it pass because she just looks so heavenly. The clean lines of this are to die for! Hello, wedding dress? And what a lovely accessory she has in Mr Statham.
This mirrored jumpsuit is kinda crazy, and we think we kinda love it. Fashion’s all about fun, and from the look on her face, beauty entrepreneur Julie’s having a ball. You go lady!
Granted, being the daughter of Anna Wintour probably gives you a leg up in the fashion stakes. But Bee stands on her own two feet, spectacularly, in this fairytale McQueen gown. The exquisite embroidery pops against the inky black, and that train brings tears of joy to our eyes.
Yes, we know the guys at these all kind of look the same. But, come on now.
Ok, we take that back. How dapper does rapper Nas look in Public School?!
If we told you the Super was wearing chainstore, would you believe us? H&M never looked so good. Love the ear cuffs!
We’re not sure this get up will prompt a return of Jelena (sometimes guy just don’t get fashun), but we’re digging the Heidi-meets-dominatrix vibe. Not 100% sold on the boots, but Sel looks scrumptious in this dress and leather bustier combo.
Skinny cream suit, dreads, tatts and loafers. Wiz is killing it in Rag & Bone.
Aussie Jess is an actual goddess in this burgundy lace two-piece. Bonus points for the sassy ankle boots, the on-point up do and illuminator eye-work. As for those abs….
Everyone else can pack up and go home. This is how it’s done. Zoe is undisputed belle of the ball in this epic piece of Dolce & Gabbana art.
Kendall Jenner & Cindy Crawford
Kenny and Cindy. We cannot even deal with seeing these two mega babes together! Cindy looks gorgeous (and ageless!) in super slinky, silver Balmain, but Kendall takes our breath away in Atelier Versace. Rocking her signature high pony, we cannot take our eyes away from her redonkulous bod, especially those toned and honed shoulders.
The brunette bombshell and Kim K look alike does what she knows best, bringing the heat in two-toned Prabal Gurung.
Songbird Rita has a Queen Bey moment in this semi-naked, silver feathered creation from Vera Wang. We like it on her. A lot.
Sisters Este, Danielle and Alana rocked monochromatic Rodarte like nobody’s business. Adore the boho locks and hair jewellery.
Hot mama-to-be Kerry is glowing in black lace Marc Jacobs. We’re totally digging her wild burgundy curls and lace gloves!
Our Nic looks like some kind of celestial being in this dazzling gown with cape. We’re not 100% sure if we love it, but it is perfect for this kind of occasion where best dressed lists favour the bold. Top points for flawless hair and makeup, too.
Pocket rocket Vikander looks cute enough to eat in this so-quirky-it-works sequin and leather number from Louis Vuitton. Loving the shoes and the futuristic milkmaid vibe.
Jenna Lyons, Jennifer Konner & Lena Dunham
Sass and brains. Love.
Yassss queen. Eye catching as ever in Atelier Versace.
Bella Hadid & The Weeknd
The raven-haired stunner is just too gorgeous in this frothy black confection.
On the flip side, golden girl Kate is a picture in this intricate Versace gown in bright white.
One of our favourite looks, Jess is all class in embroidered blue Prada. The colour is to die for against her flaming locks.
The superstar brings it once again in Givenchy. The gem-encrusted peach leather hugs her body like a dream, drawing attention to that fabulous booty. The long, ironed locks and matte black shadow are modern perfection.
Saving the best ‘til last? Pretty much. Emma Watson is pure magic in Calvin Klein Collection. Way to make an entrance!
