Stuck in a makeup rut and still contouring like it’s 2015? It’s time to take a long hard look in the bathroom mirror and get back in the game, bellas! From date night to d-floor outings, here’s how to ace two of the hottest new night-time makeup trends, using prods from our favourite US cosmetics brand, ColourPop.
Glamour matte – for a third date
Red lips are never out of style, but they’re especially hot RN when they’re perfectly matte. Let your skin-tone dictate whether you’ll be more gorge in a deep brick red like ColourPop’s Ultra Matte Lip in Avenue, or an orange-based hue (try Little Weapon).
A dewy complexion is the perfect foil to matte lips, so keep your coverage light and luminous. Add a touch of molten metal to the eyes or cheeks (not both) to keep your date entranced through dessert. For the eyes, we love the Pressed Powder Shadow in metallic bronze (You Know the Drill) or the Super Shock Shadow in Super Hard Core (a gorgeous satiny gold). Or for killer cheekbones, try the amazing Super Shock Highlighter in Candyman. Curl your lashes, mascara up and go.

‘80s redux – for a night out with the girls
Bust out the blue eyeshadow and backcombing, the ‘80s are back in business. First up, perfect your power brow with ColourPop’s Crème Gel Brow Colour (choose a colour one-two shades darker than your natural brows). This brow prod is easy to apply with an angled brush, gives great definition, and won’t slide down your face after an epic d-floor sesh.
Lids of course need to be blue. We’re obsessed with the cornflower shade of Lost & Found (it’s a matte powder formula for full-lid application). OR for a modern take, keep the lids bare and create an on-trend graphic liner look with the cream-gel formula in Prance – the prettiest shade of periwinkle blue. Apply two coats of inky black or navy mascara, and don’t skimp on the blush.
If your lids are matte, go glossy on the lips, or vice versa. Hey, this is an ode to the ‘80s, not the actual ‘80’s, so pull back a little. We love the metallic finish of ColourPop’s Ultra Glossy Lip in Trinkets (coral pink) or My Jam (golden nude).
