Eyeliner can be confronting when you’re just starting out. Pencil or liquid, cat eye or smokey, waterline or lash line? How do you know which style is going to suit your eyes?
There are no rules when it comes to makeup. But if you’re not sure where to start then just match our tips up with your eye type.
Big Eyes
The world is your oyster! Smokey or winged – anything will suit your eyes and you can experiment with heavy looks. To make your eyes appear smaller tightline your upper lid and lower lash line. Try: Eye Of Horus Goddess Smokey Eye Pencil to tightline and smudge.
Small Eyes
The cat eye was made for you! Take inspiration from Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss who always open their eyes up with a flick at either side. Lining your lower rim is a no-no, but a little bit of liner in your lash line is fine. Try: Sleek MakeUP Flick It to get your wings just right.
Deep Set Eyes
Thick lines around your eyes will only make your eyes look deeper. Instead, draw a very thin and light line on the outer half of your upper lash line. Follow up with lots of mascara. Try: Sleek MakeUP Dip It Duo to line your lids and coat your lashes.
Wide Eyes
Tightline your upper lash line and inner rim all the way around your tear duct. This will help to bring your eyes closer together. You can go smokey or add liquid liner to the top lid, but don’t extend your liner too far past the edge of your eye. Try: OCC Cosmetic Colour Pencil in Tarred for dark colour instantly.
Close Eyes
Focus on the outer corners of your eye with a dark wing, and don’t line the inner corner of your eye. Add some eyeshadow to your outer eye to enhance your look. Try: Sleek MakeUP Flick It to create a great wing and Coastal Scents Revealed Eyeshadow Palette to add some colour to your lids.
No Crease
Your eyes make the perfect canvas for a cat eye or creative winged look. Add some light pencil liner to your lower lash line to finish the look. Try: Sleek MakeUP Dominatrix Inc Pot for serious control over the finished product.
