If there’s one thing I love, it’s a face mask. So, I was pretty chuffed when the Juicy Lemon Rescue Mask from Garnier made its way onto my desk! Exfoliating and brightening, it promised to restore a healthy glow to my dull winter complexion. But did it deliver…?
Garnier Skin Active Juicy Lemon Rescue Mask is a handy single-dose face mask that comes in a super-generous sachet that could easily stretch to two applications. The paraben-free mask has a jelly-like texture, and is infused with glow-giving lemon extract and active glycolic acid.
Formulated for dull and uneven skin, the Juicy Lemon Rescue Mask promises to brighten the complexion, and leave skin smooth and radiant in just 10 minutes. The secret lies in the powerful ingredients – lemon extract helps to visibly brighten, while glycolic acid combats oiliness and acne, blackheads, fine lines, and dullness. The powerful AHA exfoliates the skin by dissolving the glue that keeps dead skin cells hanging onto the skin’s surface. It helps to increase cell turnover to reveal a fresher, healthier, younger looking complexion.
The mask has a yellow-tinted gel formula that is easy to apply, and feels instantly cooling on the skin. It also smells nice and citrusy and refreshing, thanks to the lemon extract.
My skin is dry and sensitive, so I was expecting the actives in the mask to tingle like crazy. I was pleasantly surprised. As I kicked back and relaxed for 10 minutes, it did start to tingle about half way through, but it wasn’t too uncomfortable at all. It felt much less intense than some clay masks I’ve tried.
After 10 minutes, I washed the mask off with warm water. Tip: you might want to keep a washcloth handy as the gel gets quite slimy with water so it takes a few rinses to remove entirely.
There’s no doubt about it – my skin was noticeably brighter and clearer, and felt smooth and refined to touch. It’s not a hydrating mask, though, so make sure you slap on your favourite serum and moisturiser afterwards. Your freshly exfoliated skin will be perfectly prepped to drink up all the goodness!
