It’s the age-old question: how much product do you really need to use?
So often the instructions on our favourite skincare products tell us to use a dollop, a splash or a generous amount on our skin. But what does that even mean? Are you using too much or too little?
Don’t worry, we’re here to help. We’ve used some of our favourite products to demonstrate how much of each product type you should be using.
Usually it’s all about trying a more effective cleansing method and using less product. Your samples are going to go so much further after reading this!
Facial Cleanser The Method: Spend 30 seconds massaging your cleanser into your face to ensure you remove all traces of makeup, product, dirt and grime. Rinse it off with a generous amount of water.

Exfoliating Scrub The Method: Use small circular motions to rub the exfoliating scrub across your skin using your fingertips. Do not scrub harshly or press your hands too firmly against your skin – a light to moderate pressure is enough. Rinse off with plenty of water.

Facial Serum The Method: A serum should be applied before you moisturise to target any skin concerns. Dot tiny amounts of the serum across your skin, especially in areas that you want to treat most. Then blend together with short, light strokes.

Facial Oil The Method: A tiny drop goes a long way. Using both hands, pat the oil onto cleansed, dry skin. Allow it to completely absorb before applying any further products.

Facial Moisturiser The Method: Using a light pressure, start at your neck and apply the moisturiser to your whole face with upward strokes. Use both hands for best results.

Eye Cream The Method: Use your ring finger to lightly dab your eye cream into the delicate undereye area and the contours of your eyes. Don’t rub or push too hard, just keep dabbing and tapping until everything is absorbed.

Shampoo The Method: Make sure your hair is completely saturated with water, and then lather the shampoo a little in your palms before applying to your roots. Lather up your whole head and then rinse thoroughly.

Heat Styling The Method: Work the product through the lengths of your hair with your fingertips to make sure you are protecting all of your hair. Apply to towel dried or completely dried hair, depending on the tool you are using.

Hair Moisture Treatment The Method: Distribute the product evenly across both hands, so that a small layer covers your palms and fingers. Work it through your hair gradually with your fingers, starting at the mid-lengths and through to the ends.
