So you already know what’s in for hair this year, but what about makeup? Will ultra-plucked brows suddenly make a comeback, or will contouring get the boot? We took five with the always-fabulous Antoinette Bekos, celebrity hair and makeup artist (hello Hugh Jackman) and owner of AB Pro Lab, to chat 2016 makeup trends.
“Eye trends will see blue shadow as a bold statement for 2016, as seen on the Chanel runway in London.”
(Think more colour than goggle-like application!)
“Contour will be with bronzer and not chocolate cream colours, thank God. Highlighting will be big for 2016...especially on the high bone of cheeks. So, it will be about more natural contouring and highlighting, and not so heavy. Phew!”
“I think there will be a shift towards polished looks overall, but I always say stick to what suits you, whether to be matte, heavy or natural coverage. We all have different skin, so if you are 15 and have great skin of course the natural look is going to look great. Let's not follow trends with coverage or foundation, let's get the right colour and type of foundation that looks good on you and wear it well!”
“The best way to quickly update your makeup for a new year is always to buy a new colour lipstick. Not the same colour in different brands, lol. I love women who come in and say ‘I wear this colour lipstick all the time so I want something different,’ but guess what – they pick up the same colour but a different brand. Makes me laugh all the time. So, please buy a new lipstick and live a little with a different shade.”
