“Would you like coffee, water or Comforting Tea?” my lovely hairdresser asked teenage me as I sat down in the chair.
I chose the tea. I had it every time I went to my hairdresser – there was nothing quite like it. It left a beautiful sweet aftertaste in my mouth. After obsessing over it between visits to the hairdresser, I finally asked what it was.
“It’s the Aveda Comforting Tea,” my hairdresser explained. “It’s got licorice and peppermint in it, which makes it sweet without us adding any sugar.”
Aveda made tea? My mind was blown. I had always noticed the beautiful herbal smell that greeted me when I entered my hairdresser, but now I was putting the pieces together. This was an Aveda salon, and everything from the signature massage at the start of the session to the hair products and tea was made by Aveda.
From then on I was hooked. I had never really experimented with products before. I ventured away from my supermarket shampoos and started using the Shampure shampoo and conditioner. My hair instantly looked and felt better. And I bought some of that tea!
My love affair with Aveda started when I was a teenager and has continued until now. Sure I’ve strayed at times, but I’ve always returned to their Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener when I’m ironing my hair, and the Damage Remedy Intensive Daily Hair Repair to look after my locks. My mum and my sister both use the Be Curly Curl Enhancer to control their curls. I've tried out the Tourmaline skincare line and was impressed by how radiant it made my skin.
I’ve also discovered their makeup range, including their mineral foundations and their beautiful eye palettes. Their Lip Saver lip balm is a big favourite of mine!
Although I moved from the area and don’t go to that hairdresser anymore, I’ll always remember how they helped me discover Aveda and set me on the path to a lifelong obsession with beauty and skincare. You never forget your first love. Things have come full circle now, with Aveda featured in many of our bellaboxes this month!
