While some girls have their eyes on the threads at the international fashion weeks, we’re all about scoping out what’s new in beauty. From the latest lip look – will it be matte and vampy or pinky-nude and glossy? – to the hottest in hair – poker straight or big and bouncy? – we watch with bated breath, and our credit cards at the ready.
We’ve done our research for the season and right now we’re especially excited about giving autumn’s eyeliner trends a whirl. Here are some of our runway faves, which we know you’ll love recreating with our April hero product (wink, wink*).
Fine lines
Take a look at the autumn 2019 catwalks and one thing is clear – when it comes to eyeliner, thin is in. Micro-fine black liner was on point at Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini, Ashley Williams, Sportmax and Marta Jakubowski, with the makeup maestros rimming the entire eye for a clean and sharp look. Pair yours with a shadow-free lid, the merest hint of smudgy slate, or a pretty wash of nude or peach.
Above the rim
For a modern spin on the cat’s eye, stick with a thick, winged line on the top lid only. Pair it with mascara, a lick of concealer and nothing more, as seen at Bibhu Mohapatra. It’s fresh, fierce and super easy to achieve. Bonus points for nailing the of-the-moment extended wing on show at Saint Laurent and Haider Ackermann.
Deconstructed lines
If you’re feeling bold and have a super-steady hand, why not stray outside the lines and give the deconstructed, disjointed eyeliner seen at 3.1 Phillip Lim a go. Go on, we dare you.
Madame lash
Another one for the ‘night with the girls not day at the office’ files – dramatic, drawn-on lower lashes as popularised by a ‘60s Twiggy. Seen at Dior and Brandon Maxwell, the autumn ’19 redux has us swooning.
Colour pop
We’re also smitten with the lush, colour-drenched eyeshadow hues adorning models’ lids at Valentino. Whether you opt for violet, emerald or crimson (as rocked by Riverdale’s Lili Reinhart at the Golden Globes), a thin line of black liquid liner is the perfect foil.
Smoke show
If you’re a fan of the sultry, smoky eye, don’t despair. It was out in force, spotted at shows including Elie Saab and Hermès. We’re sticking with the classics, pairing shadows in charcoal through to midnight with a precision-lined eye.
*To help you recreate the looks above, you’ll all find a Steve Laurant Precision Tip Eyeliner in your April bellabox! It’s our go-to both perfecting a subtle, ultra-thin line, or a big and bold winged look. Plus, it’s 100% cruelty free so you can breathe easy.
