#1 Keep Moving!
It’s tempting to snooze through your alarm and ditch exercise until spring rolls round again. But it’s a big mistake. Skipping your workouts isn’t just bad for the booty, it’s also bad news for the brain. Exercise boosts concentration and is one of the easiest ways to flood the body with feel good chemicals. So, avoid the SAD (and bikini bod panic) and stay cheerful and fit with hot yoga, time-saving HIIT sessions (like BodyBoss, which you can do in your bedroom), or whatever else floats your boat.
#2 Stay Hydrated – Inside & Out
If you can’t stomach cold water during winter, keep your insides well-oiled with herbal tea or warm water and lemon. Skin also needs extra TLC as artificial heating strips it of moisture. The Danish concept of ‘hygge’ which basically means cosiness, is seriously hot right now. Not sure how to hygge right? Gather your loved ones, light candles, play some board games and sip on hot chocolate or mulled wine. It’s about taking time to reconnect, and taking pleasure in the simple things.
#5 Resist the Urge to Hibernate Allll Winter
Stop being such a wuss! Cold weather is no excuse to bail on every single invitation. Rug up and try and stick to most of your social plans and regular activities. Or come summer, you might not be invited…
#6 Indulge in Winter Fashion
Come on, winter fashion’s the best right?! Boots, gorgeous knitwear, coats and cute woolly beanies… If shopping for winter clothing doesn’t get you excited, we don’t know what will.
#7 Embrace Wintery Activities & Sports
The beach might be off limits, but there are so many fun activities to get involved with during winter. Skiing is an obvious one (almost as good as the après-ski ;), plus there’s ice skating rinks popping up in town, and plenty of wintery markets where you can eat hearty food and drink toasty drinks to your hygge-loving heart’s content.
#8 Pamper Yourself
Since you are probably spending more time indoors, winter is a great time to relax with scented bubble baths, nourishing face and hair masks. And might we suggest a trip to your local hot springs?
#9 Cook Up a Storm
Baking is an activity just made for winter, and so is cooking up a storm of hearty, warming meals like soups and roasts and casseroles. Yum!
