Hands, smands. Right? Wrong. There are more than a few ways you can give your mitts a helping hand when it comes to looking and feeling good. Here's 10 of them to do tonight!
#1 Rub in a little hand cream
A simple, yet oh-so effective measure in making your mitts soft and smooth. Hand cream is an absolute must if you are on a good hand mission. Plus, it's very theraputic to rub in and give yourself a little massage at the end of a long hard day typing - reports, or facebook status'. Pick one with a good scent to make your nose as happy as your hands. My current faovurite is the Dirty Works Hand Cream. Retro cute packaging = a big tick in our books.
#2 Wear mittens
And not just the wooly kind! If you are a faux tan fan, be sure to always use a self applicator mitt. Not only will it help make your tan more even, it'll also keep those hands of yours streak free! I like the Tuscan Tan Self Tan Application Mitt. Because no one pulls of orange fingers. Not even LiLo. While we are at it, be sure to wear rubber gloves when washing the dishes, or gardening for any greenies out there. Chemicals found in household prods can make skin dry, rough and cracked - not ideal.
#3 Care for your cuticles
Don't pick at your cuticles - care for them instead, and you won't have any dry bits to pick at! If you suffer from sore tips because of dry cuticles, look to a natural and healing formula, like this Burts Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream one. Not only does it smell good, it really helps to heal. Simply read the back of the pack for the ingredients list to see just how many nice things are included - and best of all, you'll recognise most of them, because they are all so natural. Nice!
#4 Take it higher
OK. Okayy. So elbows aren't technically HANDS. But they are joined to them (sort of) so you should keep them looking tip top too - especially because they can tend to become very, very dry in winter. Get your funny bones into these socks (can be worn on heels too - simply wash) once you've coated them in thecult Yu-Be Moisturising Skin Cream. Then, head to bed and awake with soft elbows!
#5 Drink your way to good hands
Yes - you can actually do this. Proplenish Beauty From Within Marine Collgen Sachets help to promote strong nails and hair, as well as glowing skin. And Bec Judd is a fan - need we say more? Probs not - but we will anyway. Sourced from the world's highest quality marine collagen, designed to replicate the collagen naturally produced by our bodies during our younger years that stops being produced as we age, this is a beauty all-rounder. Plus, it's virtually tasteless, odorless, and has no fat, sugar, or carbs. Add to your OJ on a nightly basis to see the results.
#6 Healthy hands = healthy errythang
Cold and flu season is upong us (cough, cough - literally) so time to emply a kind to skin sanitiser in your handbag. A must if you are a commuter and always miss a seat, neccessitating holding onto railings and handles also touched by 500+ people per journey. I like the Natralus Natrasan Instant Hand Sanitiser Kakadu Plum and Vanilla - it doesn't smell like a hospital floor!
#7 Scrub those babies
Think about it. You scrub your bod, your feet, and your face - why not your hands too? I actually use the Uspa Organic Wild Thyme Foot Pumice on my hands. It smells so refreshing, and leaves skin delightfully soft afterwards - why should feet have all the fun?
#8 Get rid of chips toot suite
Chipped nails are such a no-no. Even if you have the smoothest, most silky, pretty, perfect hands, manky nail polish will kill any compliment you're set to get faster than a sparkerler looses it's light. And really, when there are individual, actone-free nail polish remover wipes, that can be used anywhere, anytime, there's no excuse. The La Fresh Nail Polish Remover Wipes are perfect to tote with you for speedy old mani removal.
#9 Paint up again
Of course, bare, shiny and buffed nails simply scream health and good grooming. But, if you are a polish fan, a barely there nude colour will work wonders too. I'm a devotee of the Kester Black Nail Polish in Nude. All the KB polishes are free from Toulene, DBP, Camphor, Formaldehyde and Formaldehyde Resin to boot. And if you think nude is boring - think again. It elongates the fingers, making them look slim, and goes with any colour metal you choose to wear.
#10 Take care of those wrists too
Finally, wave goodbye to sore marks and dints in wrists from tight hair ties. Then, get yourself some Twistbands, stat. They not only help to ease any lock breakage, they also feel like a dream on wrists, and come in plenty of cool colours to stack with your bangles and bracelets.
There you have it! The 10 ways you can help yourself get a better handle on soft, smooth and generally happier and healthier mitts! Do you do any of these on a regular basis? Let me know in the comments below! - Lauren
