We've saved one of our favourite August brands for last, because their products are also fantastic to usher in the new season! Treat yourself with Aurora Spa Rituals...
Aurora Spa is the premier spa destination in inner-city Melbourne. Think of the most relaxing environment possible, with the most pristine spa surroundings and some of the kindest therapists and you're getting a clearer picture. Clean and comfortable robes that are good enough to sleep in, soothingly fragrant botanical scents and soft theraputic sounds all contribute to the total sensory relaxation Aurora Spa offers. Located within the iconic The Prince Hotel in St.Kilda as well as the Palazzo Versace in Queensland, Aurora Spa is definiately worth planning a vacation around if you don't hail from Melbourne or the Gold Coast! Of course, the range of Aurora Spa Rituals products are the next best thing for creating a retreat in your own bathroom too.
In a world with an abundance of spas, Aurora stands out for more than a few reasons, but the spa's knowledgable founder is a main one.
Aurora Spa's founder, Lyndall Mitchell has based her entire professional career around catering to the holistic nuturing of others. With a vision to found an urban spa, both catering to clients with a full day to relax as much as those who have only an hour to stop and recharge, Lyndall researched extensively before opening her health and wellness retreat. Under Lyndall, Aurora Spa focusses on achieving maximum results for their clients, helping them to get emotionally closer from A to B - a key component or 'journey' that should be present in all treatments, but is often overlooked elsewhere. In this way Aurora Spa does more than make their clients look good. Feeling good is just as big a part of beauty therapy and a core belief of Aurora Spa.
Lyndal Mitchell's philosophy is also a green one. Aurora Spa was the first accredited GreenSpa in Australia. With a conscience of their impact on the environment, Aurora Spa disposes waste in an environmentally friendly manner and consistantly reviews their water and energy minimisation strategies. The range of Aurora Spa Rituals products are also packed in recyclable plastic bottles and boxes, encouraging others to contribute to effective waste disposal at home, as practiced at the Spa's itself.
No spa writeup is complete without the lowdown on treatments! The most effective techniques from around the world are integrated into the treatments here, and are always designed to help clients to allow themselves to live a more relaxed, happy and stress-free life. Don't believe me? Their manicures are done in a room more sleep-inducing than my bedroom, on day beds comfier than any couch and come with a soothing ipod mix to help whisk you away to your own personal down-time, all whilst your nails are buffed, smoothed and painted to perfection!
Of course, a spa is only as good as its Signature Treatments and speaking from personal experience, Aurora Spa have designed theirs to really make a girl (or guy) feel special! I was fortunate enough to try the Signaute Kitya Karnu treatment, along with our Brand Manager Sam, last month. This involved the application of aromatic body oils and pure mineral salts for a full body exfoliation, followed by a massaging application of a rich and creamy walnut and wattleseed exfoliant. Cool river stones were also used to help clear and revive, before a hydrating facial cleanse and masque and hair treatment. As crazy as it sounds, I almost forgot my therapist was there despite the fact she was doing all the work! What was going through my head apart from thinking I was in heaven? "If this is what a Signature Treatment feels like, sign me up for weekly visits!"
Of course, after I came to, I knew that this really wasn't a possibility for me. Thankfully I got to try some of the amazing Aurora Spa Rituals products at home. The verdict? They are as good as you can get for an at-home spa feeling.
I also am a BIG fan of the Rose & Aloe Body Cleanser - a soothing sulphate-free body wash containing calming aloe leaf extract and relaxing rose geranium to cleanse and condition the skin. I loved it, but the real proof was to lie in the man-approval pudding. I asked my (beauty-fool) boyfriend his thoughts on my new body wash after he jumped out of the shower post-footy training. 'Yeah. I like it. Smells really good - like what I imagine a spa smells like?' Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!
