Today we chat to the stunning and super talented Anita, of Lester The Fierce. Thanks for chatting with us today Anita! Tell us a little about yourself! What does a day in the life of the gorgeous Anita Lester of Lester The Fierce look like?
Thanks for having me! Well, my days are fairly varied. I'm lucky to be in the creative industry as it adds a level of freedom to my routine. Most days though, I read when I wake up and watch a movie before bed. I'm so rock and roll.
You have such a unique and inspiring approach to fashion Anita - are you influenced by many of designers? Which are some of your top choices - who gets a little special attention in your wardrobe?
I've never thought of myself as being someone who is fashion forward, but I love fashion for sure! Lisa T (who works for Romance Was Born) makes me some beautiful custom stage outfits- all a little 70's inspired but in a rock way. I definitely have a tendency towards 90's grunge inspired clothes (even before it was en vogue!). Unfortunately, I'm not yet at the stage where I can afford the names I want to wear, but soon enough hopefully!
Ahh - us too! What is the key item in your wardrobe that you cannot live without? Is there a particular piece that defines who you are as a musician?
I love my black jodhpurs. They are my version of staple jeans. I wear a lot of shirts and doc martins.
On stage I wear figure hugging pants and cropped embellished tops or kimonos. I also wear high chunky heels as I'm super little! That's sort of my signature.
Working in the music industry, we are sure you appreciate the role beauty has to play in completing a look. What’s your favorite beauty trend right now?
I really love the natural look with strong brows. I have really thick brows anyway, but I've found that contouring them ads that severity. It's quite feminine I think. Always a fan of clean skin and lightly tinted lips too.
Obviously, you know how to work an outfit on stage, but has there ever been a time when you wore something that just didn’t work? Any cringe-worthy moments you wish you could erase from your music, or even beauty history!?
Oh- the list is endless! I am a classic fashion tragic. I've literally JUST come into my own! It seems like, whenever I've made an effort, that's when the cringe-worthy moments occur.
Notably, my grade six graduation. Fluro purple hippy dress with Fluro orange platform shoes. Matching piece of random silky cheap un hemmed fabric as a shawl. My naturally curly hair brushed into a top notch poodle-esque ponytail, with the obligatory gelled single strand near my fringe. AND - nail tattoos on my face.
What has been your best beauty discovery of all time, and how did you find out about it?
I don't really wear much makeup. I never have! I've also never washed my face with any kind of product. I always use a hot face wash and remove makeup that way... even when I'm not wearing it. It cleans the skin without drying it. I find if it becomes dry, I use a little bit of Argan oil. I've been doing that for years now.
We absolutely love your single HOWL! Your voice is so beautiful, yet unique and haunting. Tell us a little bit about the single and where the inspiration came from.
It's about frustrated love - about my family and the boy I loved. It's really just about being heard.
For all of those of us out there who want to hear more from you, where can we purchase your EP and will you be touring any time soon?
Online! All major hubs of music purchase. I'm playing constantly around the country at the moment. It's still such a new journey for me, so I'm doing the hard yards! Facebook is always a reliable way to get information though.
