So the verdict is in - The Dark Knight Rises is a hit! At least critically speaking, anyway. Whilst a few of us are busting to see the film, the whole office is debating over the age old question: Who did cat woman better? Here we bring you the three beauties who limbered up to play the lithest lady in Gotham City...
Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns (1992)
So, I don't want to influence your decision too much, but Michelle is without-a-doubt my favourite cat woman (our family copy of Batman Returns on VHS was certainly a little worse for wear after my brother and I watched it, ohhhh, at least 72 times!) The first woman to don the PVC suit and prowl around the bleak, futuristic world the film portrayed, Pfeiffer wore it well and added a good dose of femininity to the film franchise. Beauty wise, Pfeiffer's cat woman was all about the true red lip (which suited her pale skin tone superbly) and a smokey version of a black winged eye. Not to mention those super thin and dark brows - eeek! Brows aside, her beauty look was bold yet classic and whilst we'd recommend choosing to feature either your eyes or your pout in the real world, outside of Gotham, we respectfully remember that this was the 90's after all (and heavy makeup - and pencil thin brows - were standard!)
Halle's turn as the feline 'anti-hero' was not a great success, with critics claiming that the film gave little depth to the cat woman story and largely ignored Berry's character's 'transformation' within the film. It even shamefully received seven Golden Raspberry (Razzie) Awards. However, the revamped cat woman costume certainly gave the male DC Comics fans a little more to mull over!
Beauty wise, Berry's cat woman was an evolution of Pfeiffers. Her winged eye is still smokey, however is not as deep and dark, incorporating silver grey tones too. Also, check out the illuminator on her brow bones, which brightens the moody eye makeup, keeping it firmly in minx territory rather taking it to panda-ville. For everything you could need to recreate a similar eye, look no further than the MeMeMe Create the Look Pack Smokey Eyes. Containing a trio colour combination eyeshadow palette (black, grey and illuminating pearl), eyeliners, a lengthening mascara and a how-to guide, you'll have everything you need to get Berry-licious peepers in no time. Again, cat woman rocked a red lip, however Berry's was a little more glossy than Pfeiffer's matte pout. Try the Silk Oil of Morocco Lip Gloss in Moroccan Ruby (colour pictured below) for a similar red sheen. And don't forget a great moisturiser to keep your lithe limbs (oh hey old pal pilates!) soft, smooth and super hydrated like Halle's. bb loves OP Therapy Unscented Body Hydrator which is super creamy without a greasy residue.
Anne Hathaway in The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
So, like I said, the entire bb office is still yet to see the latest film (no Batman die-hard 'I-attended-the-midnight-screening' fans here unfortunately!) But for the purposes of 'beauty research', we have watched the promo multiple times and trawled the web for promo shots... and wowzers Anne has a banging bod! She also scrubs up pretty well (read: amazingly) makeup wise too.
We love the more subtle take on the cat woman red lip and dark eye. Anne's pout is more berry than bold red, which suits her complexion perfectly. Try Savoir Faire Lip Gloss in Fierce (colour pictured below) for a similar shade. Anne's eyes are also a little sleeker than the previous cat's eyes. Try a subtle wash of shimmery shadow, then line eyes with a gel eyeliner for longlasting peeper accentuation that won't rub off (even when worn under a mask). We love Glamorous Minerals Gel Eyeliner which dries waterproof and smudgeproof. We can't ignore Anne's beautiful head of hair here too. To keep your locks long and lush, get your hands on a great serum treatment. Our hair drinks up the Royal Moroccan Serum Treatment which includes Argan Oil for nourishment and moisture. Apply to wet hair before blow drying for plently of Anne-like volume. Sublime!
So, now you know all the beauty buys you'll ever need to emulate any cat woman look! Whose did you dig the most? At the very least, you've got your next dress up party costume makeup down. Meow! - Lauren
