Cameron Diaz is this week's Fab Face while we celebrate the lovely leading ladies who love the world with their eco-friendly lifestyles. Read on for some green living tips from Cam, as well as how to steal her style...
Cameron Diaz is one awesome lady. Not only has she modelled, had (and continues to have) a stellar career as a Hollywood leading lady, dated some very good looking guys (Hello, JT!) she is also a eco-conscious AND looks just as good brunette as she does blonde!
Diaz started her professional career as a teen modle with big time agency Elite Model Managment in the late 80's. After stints for Calvin Klien and Levis, no less, as a 21 year old with no previous acting experience she went for the role of the leading lady, Tina Carlyle, in the film The Mask. The sexy nature of her character and the film's success (it was one of the top 10 grossing films in 1994) launched Diaz's star and she became recognised as a sex symbol in her own right. After a series of roles in independent films she hit the mainstream again in the chic flick favourite My Best Friend's Wedding (seriously, who doesn't love this movie?) and There's Something About Mary, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for the category of Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. From there, her movies read like the ones in your personal movie collection; Any Given Sunday, Charlies Angels, Shrek, Gangs of New York, My Sister's Keeper, What Happens in Vegas, Knight and Day and Bad Teacher (Seriously. I just realised how many of these films I own. A. Lot. I look like a Diaz stalker! Moving on...)
Not only do we love Diaz for her performances, we also think she is pretty great for loving Mother Nature. Diaz was one of the first celebs to drive a Prius (back when it wasn't uber cool) and likes to shop organic - both with the food she eats from farmer's markets as well as in the clothes she wears. This year she rocked a custom-made Stella McCartney gown created from organic, certified silk adorned with thousands of glass beads and crystal chain to attend the annual, New York fashion event of the year, at the Met Costume Institute Gala. We think she looked stunning...
Diaz also filmed her own TV series with MTV, Eco Trippin, an unscripted travelogue with a 'save the planet' goal that showcased endangered animals in their natural environments and other celebs totally out of their comfort zones while travelling with her. Cam also wrote a forward for the popular eco book 'The Geen Book: The Everyday Guide to Saving the Planet One Simple Step at a Time' which shares celeb tips on simple gestures that make a difference, like never asking for ATM receipts - imagine how much paper would be saved if everyone stopped!
We also love Diaz's beauty style, which combines natural presence with on-trend touches for a polished yet carefree look.
Pretty in pink
Here Cam works a subtle sheen on her lips, paried with a light blush and a pretty yet natural eyeshadow. All three elements combine to perfection and make her blue peepers pop! For a similar look try Luk Beautifood Lip Nourish, which is made from a 100% natural edible food recipe, in the shade Lime and Ginger (yum!) The B by Bloom Col.lecta Eyeshadow colour in Sahara Desert will add a similar subtle hue to your lids, plus is only $9.95 - bargain! Finish with a touch of the Bloom Cream Blush Duo to tie the look together. Use the rosey shade on the apples of your cheeks and the illuminating colour on the cheek bones to highlight them to perfection.
Shimmer and shine
Cam's complexion is glowing here - she looks super fresh and radiant. For a light and bright look, like this one, start with your skincare routine. We love Be in Awe's Kaanti Lightening Serum which aids the reduction of the appearance of pigmentation and discolouration in the skin with the use of indian gooseberry, gotu kola, and sage extract. This way you can steer clear of heavy coverage foundations and reach for sheer ones, that won't mask skin instead. We are long time fans of Erborian's BB Créme au Ginseng which combines a moisturiser, sun protection and foundation for a soft, flawless, make-up free look. Cam also showcases a little silver toned shimmer on her lids. For a mineral makeup option, we can't go past Glamorous Minerals Shimmer Eye Dust in Polished Silver.
Brunette and red
It has to be said, even though I know many will disagree: I prefer Cam as a brunette. I know. I know! She is known for her bubbly blonde personality but I think this brown locks and red lip combo won me over. To steal it for your own, get your mitts on a killer red lippy. We love Savior Faire's creamy, vanilla scented Lipstick in Risqué. Now for a little tip on what to pair with a red lip - a dusting of bronzer. The bronzer freshens the look, keeping it more modern, rather than Mad Men, plus bronzed skin and red lips make your teeth look whiter too. Win! Try MeMeMe Blush Me! Blush Box in Bronze. To top if off? A coating of black mascara ties the look together. We love Eye of Horus Mascara with a flexible brush, that glides along lashes to curl and enhance naturally.
