This week's Fab Faces focuses on one of the most influential women of the fashion industry - Diane Von Furstenberg!
She has aged gracefully over the years, which have seen her through more life-changing events than most! From her marriage to a German Prince, to her time rubbing shoulders with Andy Warhol and pals at Studio 64, Diane has epitomised style, beauty and fierce femininity. Who better for us to feature? Plus, her always sophisticated, yet sexy style is great inspiration for the upcoming soiree season! Here's more of her incredible story, as well as a few of her stylish traits to steal!
Born in Brussels to a Romainan father and Greek Mother, Diane already held her fair share of international influences before she studied in Switzerland, and then working in France and Italy - the latter where she learn the dress making techniques that would make her world famous. After moving to New York, and gaining the respect of style-bible Vogue, Diane founded her business. Only two years later in 1976 she featured on the cover of Newsweek as “the most marketable woman since Coco Chanel”, which held true. Proof? Her famous jersey wrap dress is still featured in the collection of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art to this day!
This signature wrap dress has hugged the figures of many of the worlds most beautiful and confident women (because is there a difference?), something Diane says she is most proud of. Fiercely supportive of all women, not only through demonstrated through her empowering fashion but also thanks to her philanthropy and mentorship, Diane has attributed lots of her success to her mother, a Holocaust survivor, for teaching her that “fear is not an option”. Could we love her more? Probably not.
Another thing about Diane we dig? Her beauty style. Part jet-set bohemian, part disco queen, we can’t get enough of her glam and gracefully aged face. What a woman! To steal for yourself, try...
These creamy cheek tints add a touch of colour, without looking too OTT. The benefits of choosing a tint over a powder formula is that itis also easier to blend into the skin. Lightly blend a little onto the apples of the cheeks with your fingers, for a naturally beautiful flush!
Diane's skin sure is supurb - you can tell she has taken care of it! Make sure you look after yours too with a fab moisturiser like this one from David Jones Beauty. Formulated with sweet almond oil, seaweed extract, vitamin E and desert lime, this cream is not only nourishing but smells divine to boot.
For a bit of an extra treat for the skin, why not try a face mask? These are great for an added hit of moisture, especially if your skin is struggling from too little sleep/ lots of travel/ stress/ too much 'socialising'! We love this one from Ocean Essence which contains cherry and cranberry extract to deeply nourish and soften the skin.
Do you dig Diane and her dresses? How great is it to see a woman embrace her femininity, no matter her age. We love you Diane! Now, we feel a yearning to fill our wardrobes with a little more DVF... This could be dangerous! - Lauren
