A trusty lipstick can spruce up any outfit on any given day; though with an overwhelming amount on the market out there, it can be a real mission trying to decide the perfect one for you.
This month, we worked with STYLondon to create custom made shades just for our bellas. Yep, every member will be receiving 1 x STYLondon Hydrating Mousse Matte Lipstick this month – so it's time to bring out those KJ selfie angles.
Based on currently trending colourways, the bb STYLondon lineup offers four transeasonal colours, each boasting a high-pigment matte finish that's suited to all occasions - rain or shine.
As seen above, here are the shades available for grabs this month:
Pink Peony (green packaging) - nude pink Rose Wood (white packaging) - darker brown-pink nude Red Velvet (peach packaging) - classic red Berry Crush (brown packaging) - dark berry red
Why do we love the new StyLondon lipsticks?
STYLondon's hydrating mousse formula ensures that one simple swipe provides your lips with a rich colour, without drying out your lips. Not only does the colour stay matte all day, it also maintains a creamy formula that makes each application easy and reapplying on-the-go stress-free. An added Vitamin E in the paraben-free formula means it's nourishing for your lips, and the stylish marble packaging makes for a beautiful addition to your purse or your top shelf.
How to wear them
At bb, we're all for setting the trend and breaking the rules, but if you're looking for some inspo, here are some of our favourite ways to wear STYLondon's Hydrating Mousse Matte Lipstick:
Dark and heavy for a night out
Skip the big accessories and let your lips do the talking – or do both! This season, make a bold statement with a shade like Berry Crush or Red Velvet; beautiful dark red hues create the ultimate autumn lip, and a stunning red lip is a classic for a reason. To perfect your statement, grab a matching lip pencil to line your lips. Fill the whole lip to ensure the colour stays on all night, before applying your creamy shade of choice with an angled brush. The angle will help with precision and help sharpen those corners. Clean up the edges with a concealer and you're ready to go.
Softer colours for everyday wear
A subtle touch of colour makes all the difference when it comes to completing your #lewk. Soft neutrals tend to be favoured for office working gals and professions in the health field. If you're in need of a new daily favourite, Rose Wood and Pink Peony make for wearable go-tos due to their creamy, nude colour that will last the day, and likely complement your outfit; scrubs and all. Opting for a neutral lippy also requires the least amount of effort when it comes to reapplying; so you can endlessly channel Meghan Markle in every meeting. If an after-work date is scheduled in, a quick pop of lip gloss and mascara will do the trick for transitioning into a night look.
As a blush
Every makeup artist loves this hack and you probably will too. Whether it's backstage, a bridal party, or a quick glam-up, pros are often pressed for time and are always on the hunt for products that offer versatility. A hydrating, creamy lipstick does just that. Softly dab the lipstick colour on your cheek using your fingers and blend out with a brush until the colour has blurred into a soft pink, or as you desire. The best thing about a cream blush is its ability to effortlessly mimic your natural flush, so you can look like you're glowing from within at any point of the day. Finish off with a cream highlighter, dabbed on the higher points of the face to catch the most light. Think cheek bones, Cupid's bow, tip of nose and brow bone. We on that ultralight beam.
The hair trend that made it onto our pouts, or was it the other way around? We've all fallen victim to the awful faded halo that circles the middle of our lips during dinner or drinks; that small hint of pink peeking out amongst an otherwise stunning red lip. A gradual colour fade is not only a fabulous way to show off your makeup tricks, it's also a super strategic hack especially on those nights that involve wine. Grab your STYLondon lipstick and fill your lip with colour, leaving out the middle section of the lips. Grab a second complementary shade; whether another lipstick or a lip pencil, and fill in the gap, dabbing it softly around the edges for a seamless fade. Rub your lips together, and watch the second colour naturally create an ombré effect. Final step: Enjoy your glass of red.
