Every once in a while, a beauty brand comes along with handy little innovations that make our beauty routines that much brighter. Australian brandKeeko has done just that, with a lineup of products focusing on oral health. Keeko specialises in oil pulling and has built a brand of dental health offerings. Think a whitening pen, tooth floss, a tongue cleaner and even a toothbrush set.
The brand’s Coconut Tooth Floss (available in our A-Beauty box!) has to be a standout for us—it’s vegan (saying no to beeswax) and coconut-oil-based which means it easily glides into the tightest of spaces and removes all the junk you’ve been struggling to get rid of.
We sat down with Keeko’s founder, Sabrina Jacquier Parr, for a quick chat talking all things A-Beauty, oral health and entering the American market.
How did you come up with the idea of a coconut oil-based tooth floss?
Coconut oil is the hero ingredient in all Keeko products for its anti-microbial properties making it an amazing ingredient for maintaining a healthy mouth and teeth. When I started looking into developing a floss, I knew I wanted to avoid the typical petroleum-based waxes and develop one that used coconut oil instead.
What excites you about A-Beauty entering the US market?
A-Beauty is just killing it at the moment which is so amazing to see! We are, in comparison, a pretty small country so to see so many incredible brands and products coming out is just incredible. Well-known brands such as Sand & Sky, Frank Body and Go-To Skincare have really paved the way for smaller, Australian independent brands to start to get noticed.
What impact are you hoping to make on the American beauty industry?
My goal is for Keeko to be at the forefront of natural beauty innovation in oral care, especially in the US. In the past, it has not been a category that got people excited but I think myself and a few other amazing brands out there are changing that. I actually describe my products as ‘oral wellness’ as I want it to be an integrated part of health and wellbeing and something that people actually look forward to doing!
What other innovations can we expect in the future?
Oh gosh! I have so many products in the works! My first toothpaste should be launching in a month so I’m super excited about that, as it’s been two years in development!
