We love Be in AWE here at bb ever since we sampled their skincare in our June box. This month we offered even more of this amazing brand to our members in the form of three super serums, which should all work hard enough to earn a permanent place in your beauty bag! Read on for the low down...
Sometimes this moral raising British war sentiment also applies to the beauty game. Factors such as laser hair removal or peel treatments, waxing, living in a humid or drying climate, or even suffering from sunburn or skin conditions such as Rosacea can cause your skin to freak out! And the worst thing for calming freaked out skin, is to actually freak out about it! Now, I'll be the first to admit; it's easy to slip into a mild-hysteria after looking in the mirror to find raw/red/generally sore looking skin when you are trying to get ready in the morning! It can be hard to move on and put your best face forward (literally) if you are fixated on the negatives, because it is only human to think others will too.
However, it's important to remember that emotional stress can also a big factor in how your skin behaves, so if yours is a little worse for wear the best thing you can do is take proactive steps towards calming it, instead of getting worked up about it or to trying to cover it up with thick foundations (this won't work in the long run) Try taking a big breath and reaching for the Be in AWE Nirvaata Calming Serum instead. This all-natural serum includes a number of fatty acids, to maintain your skin's natural barrier to irritation and sensitivity, as well as anti-inflammatory ingredients to soothe and alleviate the symptoms of stressed skin - itching and burning, be gone! Use as an everyday light moisturiser, or to topically treat your skin by slathering on before bedtime.
Skin lightening products are a great way to brighten your complexion and skin's overall appearance, and are especially fantastic if you prefer the 'less is more' makeup philosophy sans heavy foundations. However, it is important I clear something up before we talk about exactly how lightening products rock. They aren't a skin bleach! To bleach your skin would be just plain wrong, and we would never suggest that! Instead, lightening products aid the removal of discolouration in the skin due to pigmentation, which can be caused by multiple factors but often comes down to those nasty pasties, free radicals, thanks to sun exposure and ageing. Lighteners fight against this pigmentation by slowing down the production of melanin in the skin.
But, you've probably noticed that an annoying mark from a particularly vicious pimple in winter of '05 is no longer present though, even if you haven't been using a lightener, right? This is because, as the skins layers are sloughed off with exfoliation and through the natural process of renewal (which unfortunately slows down with aging) What lighteners do is to disable pigmentation, and make it less visable when used in conjunction with an exfoliator. The lightening product makes it harder for pigmentation to form, whilst the exfoliator helps to break down the dead layers of skin containing pigmentation. If you want to try lightening products, we recommend the natural variety and love Be in AWE's Kaanti Lightening Serum which contains licorice extract, Indian gooseberry, gotu kola, and sage extract to rapidly penetrate the skin without irritation.
Similar to when your skin is stressed, it can be a real downer when you suffer from acne prone skin. Acne can be caused by plenty of factors and if it is an ongoing concern of yours, it really pays to visit a dermatologist to figure out the cause. However, if you know your acne is instead prone to flare up due to stress, diet and even hormones - like mine, which didn't reer its ugly head (or should that be heads?) until my mid twenties, just like Cameron's Diaz's (no acne isn't just for teens) - it can be tricky to get it under control, purely because you don't know when it is going to hit!
After settling in to a basic skincare routine that worked for me (cleanser, toner and moisturiser) I looked to a specific acne treatment products to reach for when my face started to freak. The best ones are those that are gentle enough to use everyday, but that you can also use topically for when a big breakout hits. The Be in AWE Amala Clearing Serum is exactly one of these products. It helps to dry out excess sebum in the pores without harshly stripping the skin, which in turn can actually cause the skin to produce even more extra sebum as a result. Containing anti-bacterial sandalwood, lemon and ginger essential oils, use all over the face or as a specific spot treatment.
