Beauty boot camp is back again - this time for your legs! Once the weather starts to heat up, many more occasions are penciled into the social diary - plenty of which make it necessary to show off your pins! The races, weddings, and even super warm days during the working week can see your dresses and skirts come out of the closet, leaving your legs bared for the world to see. This can be terrifying if you haven't prepped yours after hiding them away in stockings and tights over winter!
Scaly legs are never a good look and can be a real confidence sapper! That's why our leggy edition of beauty boot camp is here to help your gams feel great this September!
Start with an amazing sugar scrub to buff away any dead skin. I love the Pure Fiji Coconut Sugar Scrub which not only exfoliates pins to perfection but also smells so incredible, you'll think it's edible! (sorry - couldn't help myself) To use, simply scoop out one portion of the scrub (with the included scooper, which should be enough for both legs) and rub up and down over your pins in the shower. Wait until you've been in for a few minutes before using - the combination of steam and water will soften your skin up, making it easier to slough off the dead skin cells on top. As this scrub contains coconut oil it is also super moisturising too - an unexpected bonus!
Once you've scrubbed your legs, now is the time for hair removal. Shaving after a scrub is the way to go - it will soften the hairs so you get a closer shave. If you are prone to shaving rash, make sure you use a natural body wash that won't aggravate the skin during or post-shave. The Sranrom Body Wash range is formulated with 100% natural ingredients, so it is super kind to skin (and also smells naturally amazing). Use as a shaving foam to keep legs lubricated, this will help to make it less likely to cut yourself, as well as leaving skin less dry and itchy once de-fuzzed.
The next step in the leg prep is to moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! If post-shave, try a fragrance free non-irritating formula. We love the You Me & Everybody Sumptuous Skin Mousse which foams up like a hair mousse - too fun! It also sinks in super fast which is ideal for swiping on pins before running out the door as it doesn't leave a sticky residue behind.
A one application bronzer is amazing for adding a touch of safe colour to your legs and is perfect to whip out for a special occasion. Not only do they bronze pins, they also help to mask imperfections that may be making you a little self conscious about baring your legs. One amazing bronzer we love at bb is the Le Tan Flawless Legs Deep Bronze which helps to keep spider veins, bruising, and freckles hidden with just one application of bronzed colour. Unlike a fake tan, this bronzer washes off afterwards, so you don't have to worry about Lohan-looking streaks, whilst still being transfer resistant, so the colour stays on your legs and doesn't end up on your clothes - never a good look! To use, shake the can well before spraying on, holding it at least 15cm away from your legs for even distribution. Then spread over your legs with hands and wait a couple of minutes before dressing. To wash off, use soap and water. Too easy!
Onto the lower legs and feet. Feet can often be forgotten, but it's important to keep yours looking good come spring; skirts and dresses are made to be worn with strappy sandals, so it's no good getting your pins perfect if your feet and toes will let the look down! Give your feet a good scrub with the Uspa Organic Wild Thyme Foot Pumice which will leave them feeling super soft as well as soothed thanks to the aromatic scents of Eucalyptus and Wild Thyme! Massage into feet after a long day at work to really reap the benefits!
Make sure to moisturise your tooties too, to help keep them nice and soft after all that scrubbing. Our fave hydrating product is a little something called Goe Oil. If you haven't heard about this wonder product yet - listen up. This multipurpose balm is super moisturising and can be used for heaps of beauty purposes! Check out Zoe Foster's write up about it on Mamamia right over here. To keep your toes in super soft shape, rub Goe Oil into your feet before bed time. The 100% natural pure plant, fruit and flower oils will soak into your skin, leaving feet feeling divine and super sandal-ready!
The cherry on top of toe primping is a slick of bright polish in a shade that screams spring! And speaking of cherries, you can't go wrong with a good dose of cherry red on your tootsies. We love Ozotic's #125 - the perfect red for any occasion!
Bust out your best spring dress or skirt - you are ready to rock your pins! Enjoy!
