Life as a beauty editor is pretty sweet. I get to try out lots of new products, and then I get to write about all my favourites!
These are my biggest beauty discoveries of 2014. They are not necessarily brand new products, but they are products that have now become a part of my everyday beauty routine.
It was so hard to pick, and I know that after I publish this I’ll think of a million more products that I love! But hey, that’s not exactly a bad problem to have.
A new tanning range captured my heart this year – Salon Tan. When it comes to fake tan, I’ve tried them all. But Salon Tan is different. It combines the benefits of skincare with a natural bronze colour, so you end up with beautifully radiant skin! I use the Bronzing Mousse and the Face Lotion, and I find they dry really quickly and give me a nice colour that lasts for most of the week. Plus they don’t have a really bad fake tan smell. Cedel Scented Hairspray
I’m not much of a perfume girl. I know that is a surprising confession from a beauty editor! But with so many beautifully scented products around, I often just don’t see the need! The Cedel Scented Hairspray is one of these products. It comes in three scents, and it helps to keep your hair in place throughout the day. My favourite is Coconut Bay. Find out more at cedel.com.au
New skincare ranges hit my desk all year long, but one that really caught my attention was IVI Organic. This Illuminating range consists of two difference cleansers, a serum and a brightening hydrator to help bring out your natural glow! These products work hard to fight dehydration, pigmentation and even out your skin tone. I’ve really been enjoying this range, and you can find out more about it here.
Looking for a skincare splurge? My current pick is most definitely a Foreo Luna. This vibrating facial cleansing brush leaves your skin feeling super soft, meaning that your serums and moisturisers will absorb better than ever! I use mine every night in the shower. Learn more about it.
I never thought I would get this excited about a hairbrush. But I think I’ve mentioned it in about ten different articles! Ever since I was introduced to The Wet Brush it has had pride of place in my shower. I use it every time I wash my hair, and I think you should too! Read my review here.
I’m obsessed with using shower gels and body washes that smell delicious – so Priya is my favourite bathroom discovery for 2014! There are four different types to suit different personalities types, and the philosophy behind the whole Priya range is to take a moment to breathe. Learn more about the range here.
I never knew there was a way to get rid of those little bumps I get all over my legs, until bb Brand Director Sam introduced me to DERMAdoctor KP Duty! Turns out those bumps have a name – keratosis pilaris. I’ve seen a drastic improvement in my skin since starting to use this cream, and I am now totally converted to the world of DERMAdoctor.
When I started working at bellabox my first beauty discovery was Indio. Everyone in the office raved about their Eye Rise, which hydrates the area under your eyes as well as adding a touch of colour. Their Facial Scrub is amazing for getting rid of dead skin cells, while the Skin Tonic is an active toner that protects against moisture loss. The whole range is amazing so make sure you take a look!
I am a big devotee of nude and metallic eyeshadows, so I was really excited when I found out we were sampling the Coastal Scents Revealed palette in our November bellaboxes. The full palette is packed full of an amazing array of shades to create the perfect day or evening eye, and all the colours are incredibly wearable. It’s become my go-to for party makeup looks. See our tutorial here!
I have really dry lips. They are so dry that I don’t ever wear any lipstick, because it ends up flaking off and just looking terrible. However, this year I discovered Laqa & Co Lip Pencils, and they have changed my life. They are so buttery and easy to apply, and the colours are great. This is a real winner to me and I can finally embrace coloured lips!
Mascara is one of my beauty essentials. I’m really excited about Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara, because it gives me really long lashes plus it doesn’t smudge after a big day! It’s the number three mascara on Amazon and it has great reviews on MakeUpAlley, so you know they’re onto something special here. We sampled this mascara in our December bellaboxes, and we’ll have it available to purchase on our website very soon.
Every so often a totally new and different comes along that makes you stop and take a moment. This year, that was Wrinkles Schminkles. It's an innovative silicone pad that you place on your chest while you sleep to prevent creases and wrinkles forming! Learn more about this product.
