Today I'm doing a mega review - that is, a review of the Indio Skincare pack. You won't have to read on to find out that I am a fan of this pack and the 3 products inside, and not just because you can get all 3 for $99.00 (as opposed to the RRP of $279.00)
But, if you want to know why these products are so good and how they can help your skin stay young (really), scroll down now...
Let's not beat around the bush - this is an anti-aging pack. WAIT! Before you 20-somethings click the back button, or search a product review of a lipstick instead, hear me out. My name is Lauren. I'm 26. And I use anti-aging products. And I think you should too.
It's not rocket science - everyone ages differently. Factors that contribute to aging are, levels of stress, the amount of water and healthy foods you consume, your life choices (like smoking and drinking) as well as your genes. However, I come from the school of thought that anti-aging should be preventative. Once the damage to your skin is done, there's not much that can undo it. Check out the celebs who've gone OTT with the surgery to reverse the effects of aging and you'll get the picture.
And no matter your age, there are a few products you can use in your daily routine to keep the aging issues at bay. Before you look to fancy creams with caviar, try these 3 staples to start you off on the right track:
Want the proof that is product is one of the most important beauty products you can use for anti-aging? Australian researchers from the Queensland Institute of Medical Research have found that daily sunscreen use can hault the skin aging process for up to 4 and a half years in middle-aged peeps.
If it can make a 50 year old look 45, imagine what it can do for your skin NOW, even if you are in your teens! Which brings me to product #1 from the Indio pack - the Age Defence Sunscreen (RRP $76.00). It has an SPF 30+ protection and a smooth and silky formulation. Apply it right after your moisturiser for the best results (it's a physical sunscreen, which means it needs to be applied on top of all your other skincare, before your makeup). Key ingredients include, Octocrylene, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Benzophenone- 3, Phenylbenzimidazole Sulphonic Acid.
Think of your serum as an anti-aging cream on steroids. They are so fab due to their potency; serums contain high concentrations of certain active ingredients that are often specifically included for their anti-aging benefits. These ingredients can be things like hyaluronic acid (to reduce lines and wrinkles), glycolic acid (an exfoliant to help breakdown dead skin cells that cause dullness) or vitamin C (to brighten the skin and help reduce the appearance of pigmentation and age spots).
It's this last ingredient that makes Indio's Vitamin C Serum(RRP $119.00) such a great anti-ager. It contains the Vitamin C sourced from breakthrough Japanese extraction technology, and is the most stable, potent and penetrative form of oil with soluble Vitamin C currently available. 12% of this Vitamin C is mixed in with an abundance of Omega 3 & 6, derived from Soya Beans, Safflower Seed, Linoleic Acid, and Vitamin A & E to boot. The result is a deliverance of strong antioxidant results, inhibiting damage caused by UV radiation, and stimulating collagen production. Interesting to note, this form of Vitamin C does not exfoliate or irritate making it suitable for sensitive and delicate skins. Use in the morning, and at night BEFORE your moisturiser (it needs to be the first thing on your skin, so it can penetrate deep into your dermis without any barriers).
Eyes are one of the first places to show signs of aging due to the skin that surrounds them. It’s thinner, more sensitive, and has fewer oil and water glands, which means it requires more help in the moisturisation department. Eyes around the skin also 'wrinkle' or crease when you smile - which should be often - as well as when you squint, and these lines, or crows feet, can become deep set over time. If you want to avoid them, it's best to start with an eye cream early on. You should look to a cream specifically for eyes, as it's richer than your regular moisturiser. But don't go for the heaviest cream on the market, as it might be a little too rich for younger skin.
A perfect balance between nourishment and a light formula is Indio's Eye Perfect (RRP $84.00). It contians Vitamins, shea butter, jojoba oil, and a score of other ingredients leave skin plump, firm, soft and bright. Use tiny sweeping motions to gently apply from the corner of the outer eye towards the nose. Apply around the boney orbit of the eyes, but don't apply too close to your actual eye - creams will sink in and heat up once applied to warm skin, and can creep closer to your eye than anticipated. Remember, don't save eye cream for right before bed - you can also apply right under your makeup in the mornings for the added bonus of dewy and fresh skin around eyes.
As beauty ed at bb, where I am lucky enough to try every product we sample, these three products specifically have all helped contribute to my anti-aging routine, and despite my age I feel very qualified to use them. It just makes skin-sense.
Remember, as a special bb offer you can pick up all three for just $99.95 at the moment (rather than the RRP of the combined three at $279.00) Now that's a good skin investment if you ask me.
