Packaging: The ModelCo Cheek and Lip Tint comes in it's signature bold pink and silver packaging - almost as iconic as the formula inside. The sample size from the box (the product I got to play with) looks almost exactly the same as the full size, but a little smaller and without the fine tipped lid. I have tried the full-size before and do think it is easier to get the right amount of product out with the finer tip. However, once you know you only need a little product, you can be careful not to squirt the entire contents out of your sample size! And you really only do need a little, so the sample size (5ml) is really quite big and should last a looooong time - just like the tint itself.
Texture/Pigment/Smell: To apply, simply squeeze a little out onto your hand and use fingertips to pick up the product and blend into cheeks before dabbing onto lips. The texture of the tint is gel-like at first and even becomes quite watery with a little tapping and rubbing in. This makes for easy and seemless blending (super important in any good tint or stain) and certainly doesn't impact on the pigment, which is incredible! One of the reasons this product is so popular has to be the incredible depth of colour. The Rosy Red shade comes out as a very dark rhubarb, before blending into a medium red tone with hints of raspberry (it's more of a deep pink toned red than an orange red).
Application/Wear: As mentioned this tint is very easy to apply. A little blending here and there with fingertips is all you need. Tints and stains work best when really worked into the skin - this gives the most natural looking flush - so using the heat of your fingertips really helps to blend. No need for makeup brushes here. So don't try for a really precise lip colour with your tints - they work better when used to add a touch of colour, so you can also skip the lip pencil. This is the kind of look you want to go for...
... relaxed and carefree! Also, build the colour as you go. This tint is super pigmented, so start off slowly. A little will get you a sheer, rosy raspberry shade, and a lot will give you a deeper crimson pink look. For cheeks, apply almost last (after your foundation, bronzer etc. I do like to leave an illuminator 'til very last though, and lightly apply slightl higher and a little over the tint for a natural shimmer). Apply up and along the cheek bone, blending towards your temples. You'll find this works and looks best with a liquid foundation base (a good rule to stick to is keep powders will powders and liquid with liquids) so best not worn with your mineral/powder base.
Another thing you must take note of though is this; your tint isn't going anywhere fast. A major plus for longevity BUT its longwearing capabilities mean it will stain your fingertips, and the top of your hand if you like to employ it as a paint palette for your make up. Just be sure to have a decent makeup remover on hand if you are prepping for a special event and don't want raspberry stained hands! And, if you are prone to mishaps like moi, it's probably best to put your white shirt on AFTER application too...
Unlike other blushes - especially 'powder' ones - the ModelCo Tint hangs around for quite some time, especially on my cheeks. My lips are prone to dryness (particularly in winter) so I have to add a balm on top of stains, tints or longwear lip colour. This certainly decreases the longevity of the lip shade in question though. So, if you don't suffer from dryness, and have no need to reach for your balm, your ModelCo tint should stay put on your pout for longer! Though a little gloss on top will totally change the look of the tint, so do give it a try to mix it up!
Verdict: I can certainly see why this product is a top pick by everyday beauty lovers and make up artists alike. It's a two in one (lips and cheek) so it's perfect to throw in your bag and it certainly earns its spot in your cosmetics case whilst travelling. It also provides a super pigmented shade that still looks natural, doesn't require precise application (so is perfect for a freshly flushed natural look), and because you only need at little, it'll last you a very long time. I think this one's a winner!
