Yes to Grapefruit - the NEW Yes to range - has arrived, developed to correct and repair uneven skin tone for a brighter, more glowing complexion. Delving into the juiciest new goods, I took 3 of the key products for a review over the weekend - fruity snaps included!
What is it?: This exfoliating scrub is designed to polish off dead skin cells, and give a thorough clean, promoting clog-free pores and a more smooth and less-dull complexion. What it doesn't contain: petroleum, sodium lauryl sulfate, and parabens. What it does include: the natural power of grapefruit! Full of antioxidants and vitamin C, proven to heal damaged skin. Lemon balm also gets thrown into the mix to help unify your complexion's tone and soothe skin. If this all sounds very natural, it should. The exfoliating scrub is made from 99% natural ingredients.
So, why does it look like I want to eat it? THE SMELL! Sadly, even though it's all natural, I can't really endorse that you devour it... despite the delish scent. Of all the products, this one was my favourite fragrance-wise. It really does smell like grapefruit - not grapefruit-scented lollies, like so many other 'natural' products tend to do. Tick!
Texture/Application: The formula is clear and gel-like with teeny, tiney little grains inside. When rubbed into skin with damp hands, the gel doesn't foam (certainly no SLS here) but it does spread across the skin nicely and has a light, cooling sensation thanks to the gel base. I would recommend using this scrub out of the shower, or away from too much water, on dry skin. It makes for a more 'invigorating' and thorough scrub.
Verdict: Once washed and dried, my skin felt a lot smoother and fresher. I would recommend going easy on any areas with 'active' acne, but I can see that over time, the gentle grains would help to buff away damaged skin where blemishes have been in the past, and make way for clear and regenerated skin. I've saved this scrub for every 3-4 days and can see myself using it at night to really scrub off any traces of makeup for a 'detox' beauty sleep. Plus, you don't need to use HEAPS of product. I'd say a 5c piece would suffice - which means the cost per application of this baby will almost be in the negatives by the time I've used it all up considering it's a mere $14.99. I'd recommend following with the Yes to Grapefruit Dark Spot Correcting Serum, designed to penetrate deep into the skin to restore and heal - perfect for post-dead-skin-sloughing. Sa -mooooooooth.
What is it?: As this eye cream is specificially formulated to lessen the appearance of dark circles under the eyes, my attention was immeadiately sparked. Another 99% natural product (gosh, Yes to sure know the way to a green-gals heart!), this time it's grapefruit, plus Indian Gooseberry and Crambe Abyssinica that get the chance to go to work on tired skin. As you can see, when I get a little squinty/pouty, out come the under-eye bags/wrinkles, which create extra shadows and make any dark circles look even darker! So, this product certainly piqued my interest.
Texture/Application: When dotted on with the fine tipped applicator (genious) this cream felt soft and cooling on the skin - perfect for the delicate eye area. I didn't notice as much of a scent as with the scrub, but it was still there. I applied around 2cm away from my actual eye, which is important, as creams move around with body heat, and travel higher than intended (and no matter how natural it is, you don't want grapefruit in your actual eye, right?). The texture was light and soft.
Verdict: I love the convenience of this little tube and applicator and again, a little will go a long, long way. This product is also a steal at $23.99 compared to other potent eye creams on the market. Plus, it pairs perfectly with the Yes to Grapefruit Even Skintone Moisturiser for under $50! Score! What is it?: Not just your average face wipe, that's what! These wipes help you get radiant skin from every angle thanks to their saturation in essence of fruit acids like Licorice Root and Vitamin C. 98% natural and paraben-free, the hydrating hit care of these mega-sized wipes (they'll cover your whole face and then some) helps to exfoliate away any dark spots and dullness, naturally! But never fear - you can still use these wipes to remove makeup and over eyes comfortably*.
Texture/Application: Like any other good quality wipe - good quality, because they are nice and moist, NOT dry and draggy on the skin, an absolute essential in my books - these wipes remove all traces of makeup and leave skin feeling clean without feeling dry. BUT they also help to exfoliate and this, my beauty friends, is why I love them so much...
Verdict: You can really feel the exfoliation post-wipe. My skin felt incredibly soft and smooth, and like it'd had a real clean (not a sans water wipe down). Amazing! These are my new must-havebeauty product and, without playing total favourites, they are also my pick of the Yes to Grapefruits bunch (shhhhh!).
