The Foreo Luna is my new favourite thing in the whole world. I love it more than any other beauty product I've tried since starting at bellabox. I have even found ways to work it into conversations with complete strangers. Why? Time to find out!
There are a lot of different brushes and tools on the market for cleansing your face, but the Foreo Luna is one of the most innovative. It uses T-Sonic™ (transdermal sonic) pulsations to remove dead skin cells, cleanse pores of dirt, oil and makeup residue as well as improving the absorption of your skincare products. Plus there’s an anti-ageing mode which will help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. When I was offered the chance to try it out, there was no way I could say no!
The Foreo Luna is a small silicone device that fits in the palm of your hand. There are different types for Combination, Normal and Ultra-Sensitive skin. It feels really soft to touch, and has some small silicone bristles at the top. It’s very simple to use, just press the button near the base, adjust the speed and move it around your face. You can feel it vibrating as it cleanses your face.
There’s really just a few easy steps you should follow to use the Foreo Luna. If you’re wearing makeup, you should start by removing it. See my simple tips for makeup removal here. Give your Luna a little rinse under the tap to wet it.
Wash your face - you can use almost any cleanser, which is good news! Just avoid anything grainy or clay based. Don’t rinse it off!
Move the Luna around to different parts of your face in a very light and slow brushing movement. It will make a little buzz when it’s time to move to a different part of your face. When you use it under your eyes you’ll want to turn the speed down. All up this takes about a minute.
Rinse your face and make sure all your cleanser is removed.
Give your Luna a little wash to thank it for all its hard work.
You can also follow this up by flipping the Luna over and using the anti-ageing mode on different parts of your face. I was intrigued by the anti-ageing mode. How can a little device like this reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles? Well it’s actually quite interesting. A lot of our lines and wrinkles are caused by the repeated movements we make like squinting, frowning and raising our eyebrows. (To see what I believe will be a very strong example of this in a few years, google “Jaden Smith Is Always Worried”. Tell me that boy isn’t going to have some deep wrinkles on his forehead.) Basically, when used in the anti-ageing mode the Foreo Luna works to relax the muscles on your face. There are some raised wavy lines on the back, and you hold the Luna in certain spots like between your brows. This helps to prevent your face settling into those lines and wrinkles. I’ve been testing it out, and you’re not going to see an instant change. This is a long term thing, and my muscles definitely do feel more relaxed after using it.
So what were the results? My skin has never felt so soft. Even after just one use, it was noticeably softer. I get a lot of breakouts, and I haven’t had any significant ones since starting to use the Luna. I also find that my serums and moisturisers absorb into my skin better than they ever did before. I have used some of the other similar tools on the market, and I will be taking those out of my shower permanently and switching over to the Luna! These are the things I loved about the Foreo Luna:
Easy to use, alerts you when you need to move it to different areas of your face.
The silicone is hygienic and simple to clean plus it’s waterproof so it can be used in the shower.
No need to buy brushes, so it’s a one-time cost.
Leaves my skin feeling really soft.
If you’re not quite ready to invest in a Foreo Luna, a cheaper option is the Luna Mini. It’s a smaller version of the Foreo Luna, and it cleans just as well. It doesn't have as many speeds or the anti-ageing mode, but you'll still get a really deep clean.
