Beauty SOS was certainly a fun theme! We brand managers had lots of serious discussions about what products you might need in a beauty emergency. Dry, flaking skin? Ok, we need nourishing moisturisers. Massive pimple beaming from your forehead? Right, we need something for spots. Stuck in a rut with your makeup looks? Some new autumnal colours then, like the amazing Bloom Lip Stain.
We have lots of new brands in our May box, the first being La Roche-Posay. I first discovered this brand in Paris and if you read my articles, you will know how I adore French pharmacy brands. La Roche-Posay sunscreens are the best and the Effaclar Duo is great to keep on hand for those pesky spots.
Udderly Smooth is a cult product from the US that has just landed in Australia. Ali, our resident American, loves this all-rounder moisturiser. Griffin and Row is a brand created by an inspiring woman called Marcia. She was the CEO of Pola Cosmetics for 20 years and has used her extensive knowledge to create a simple yet effective skincare range. The Skin Hydration Spray now lives on my desk and will be handy when Winter hits and I have to turn on the heater in my office.
We have a couple of must have winter moisturisers all from new brand partners bought in by Vanessa, our new brand manager. Sanctuary Spa is a cult brand from London and works to brighten the skin, the Sukin cream comes from a natural parabin free range, and then there is Vanessa’s personal favourite, Ahava, which Lauren gave a hint about in the Editor's Letter (and some of you took up the 'treasure hunt' challenge and found/guessed it! Well done!). While in Mexico, her skin reacted badly to a product, and Comfort Cream soothed and healed her skin overnight. What she didn’t know was that her now fiancé was planning on proposing to her, and if her skin hadn’t cleared, was going to delay the proposal! He knew she would be upset she wasn’t looking her best at such an important moment. Ahava to the rescue!
