It’s finally Virgo season and knowing the organised woman you are, you’ve probably already got your birthday plans down pat. Virgos are known to be critical thinkers, creative, responsible and they love to have things in order. You’re an Earth sign, which makes you one of the purest and hardworking ones out there. Here, we’ve rounded up five beauty trends and tips that are sure to speak to your Virgo self. Read on for tips for your next makeup look or self-pampering session.
The nude makeup look
Your Earthiness has you gravitating towards pared-down beauty looks every chance you get. And for good reason, you know you can’t go wrong with soft, brick tones. They’re a fail-safe look for every occasion. In case you haven’t given it a shot yet, try a complete nude makeup look. For your eyes, pick beige and brown tones of eyeshadow to create a soft smoky eye. The Glamourflage Gypsy Jo Eyeshadow in Midas Touch is a beautiful brown that’ll easily become a mainstay in your kit. Then, dab on a little bit of bronze shimmer in the centre of your eyelid to amp it up. Use a brown-hued pink blush for your cheeks for a hint of colour and warmth. And finally, end your look with a matte nude lipstick. The Stylondon Hydrating Mousse Matte Lipstick in Rose Wood is a definite winner!
The French manicure
If you love a manicure that can take you from the boardroom to brunch effortlessly, you can’t go wrong with a classic Frenchie. The light, pastel pink base with solid white tips adds a certain chicness to your fingers. Head over to the salon, get yourself a French mani with gel polish and you don’t need to stress about your nails for at least two weeks!
The blurred lip
Amongst the beauty trends taking over the runway and social media feeds, the blurred lip is unarguably one of them. It says goodbye to perfectly defined lips and welcomes undone edges. To achieve this look, pick a creamy matte lipstick and dab it on the inner halves of your upper and lower lips. Then, using your ring finger, start to blend the colour, moving towards the edges of your lips, allowing the focus to remain in the centre. Use a smudger brush if you’d like and you’re set. A low-maintenance and fresh beauty look at once.
A monthly body massage
While indulging in one of these every month feels self-explanatory, there’s a lot more to a body massage than stress relief. Fellow Virgo, Cameron Diaz spoke about the benefits of looking after more than just your face in her book, The Longevity Book. “What I’d like for you to be aware of as you take that journey is that aging isn’t just about your face (your neck, or your upper arms, or your hands, or …); It’s about your whole body. And how you take care of your whole body will affect each and every one of your parts, inside and out,” she said. Go on, sign up for that aromatherapy massage session you’ve been putting away for weeks.
A refined Selfcare Sunday routine
Your appreciation for having things in order will make you love a simple-but-effective self-care routine for the upcoming Sunday and after. Here’s what you’ll need: A hydrating and calming face mask, detoxifying body scrub and nourishing body oil. Hop into the shower, put your favourite playlist on, and start off with scrubbing your entire body, moving in an upward direction. After you’re done exfoliating from your toes to your neck, wash off and pat dry. While your body is still holding on to a little bit of the water, apply the body oil, once again moving in an upward direction and put your favourite set of pyjamas on. Once you’re all fresh and hydrated, tie your hair back and put your face mask on. Leave it on for the recommended time, depending on the mask you’re wearing. Wash it off or massage the remainder in, as per instructions and you’re all done. Monday morning ain’t got nothing on you.
