Originating from Korea, BB Cream has recently gained worldwide popularity, with more and more beauty brands coming out with their own BB Cream formulations. It is the perfect base to wear in spring because of its light texture, natural coverage and sun protection factor. Read on for the different ways you can use your magic BB Cream!
BB Cream stands for Blemish Balm or Blemish Base, and is an all-in-one face base. It commonly combines primer, moisturiser, foundation and sun protection, with many having anti-ageing, anti-inflammatory and brightening properties. Many people are choosing BB Cream over traditional foundation, as it does not feel as heavy on the face - not to mention how much time it saves you getting ready in the morning! Erborian's BB Crème au Ginseng has been a longstanding favourite at bb, both with our customers and with the girls at bbHQ! Its 3-in-1 formulation contains Korean Red Ginseng, a natural element known for its regenerating and energising properties. Recently, Erborian also released a Light Hypoallergenic version of their BB Crème that is suitable for the most delicate and sensitive skin types.
1. Use on its own
BB Cream is designed to be used on its own, similar to a tinted moisturiser. You can apply it directly on freshly cleansed skin, but if you have dry skin, you can apply moisturiser first (just remember to wait a few minutes for your moisturiser absorb into your skin) Dot a small amount of the BB Cream all over the face and massage into the skin using circular motions until the colour blends into the skin. If you need, you can apply concealer to problem areas and set the face with a finishing powder, or simply wear the BB Cream alone for a fresh, dewy look.
2. Mix with Foundation
BB Cream is generally available in limited shades, as the colour is formulated to adapt to the skin's natural tone. However, because of the added sunscreen, it can sometimes give off a pale cast (especially in photographs) If this is the case, simply mix in a small amount of a slightly darker foundation to even out the shade. This is also a handy trick to use if you are after a fuller coverage.
3. Use as concealer or highlight
On the days you prefer to be totally bare-faced, you can use your BB Creme as a light concealer instead of applying it to your entire face. Just apply the BB Cream to any imperfections or problem areas (such as redness around the nose or dark circles under the eyes) and pat in with fingers. On the other hand, you can also use your BB Creme to highlight your face. Apply it to the top of your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose and underneath your brows - it will give those areas a subtle glow.
