Forget thick, cakey makeup - gorgeous, natural skin is the best look for spring. Read on for our top three ways to achieve natural coverage!
1. BB Cream
Originating from Korea, BB cream is truly a wonder product. Our favourite is the Erborian BB Creme au Ginseng, it's a 3-in-1 formulation that combines moisturiser, sun protection and foundation. The ultra-light formulation magically adapts to the skin's natural tone, giving a soft, makeup-free look while nourishing with antioxidants and minerals. BB creams are best applied with your fingers, simply massage into the skin just like how you'd apply your daily moisturiser.
2. Mineral Foundation
Mineral foundations are great for those with sensitive skin, as they contain naturally occurring minerals and vitamins. However, be careful when it comes to selecting the brand of your mineral foundation - just because a product claims to be ‘mineral’ doesn’t automatically mean it’s free of irritants (read more about it here). That's why you can count on Inika's Mineral Foundation and Savoir Faire's Mineral Foundation as they contain no nasties such as talc, bismuth oxychloride or parabens. Use a kabuki brush and buff the foundation onto the face, concentrating on areas of redness and pigmentation. Remember, you will only need a tiny amount to achieve natural coverage.
3. Liquid Foundation
Liquid foundation can sometimes be associated with cakiness, but not when you use a natural, light to medium coverage liquid foundation. Prestige Skin Nude Foundation and Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation are perfect for younger skin, with their light texture and hydrating properties. For mature skin, we recommend Dr LeWinn's Skin Perfect Foundation. It contains ingredients that helps to create collagen and diminish fine lines and wrinkles, and the added SPF15 provides protection against the sun's harmful rays. And a little tip - you can always mix a bit of liquid foundation with your favourite moisturiser to lighten the texture.
