This month at bb we are in the party spirit! Christmas is just around the corner and we are getting excited for our end of year party - which means we are planning our perfect glam looks to rock for the occasion.
Thanks to our new obsession with Rihanna's Reb'l Fleur fragrance - the perfect sweet scent for summer - we've decided to take some party style cues from the 'S&M' singer herself, and her celeb beauty stylist. Well, RiRi sure knows how to party after all! Here are some pro eye makeup tips from her makeup artist, Ashunta Sheriff about how to get your eyes looking good this party season...
Oily skin on your lids? Use a primer
So we all know that using a primer will help your foundation stay in place for longer, right? But did you know that it also helps on eyelids to keep shadow in place? This is especially the case if your eyelids can get oily. Don't forget to apply a little here too, and wait about 5 minutes before doing your eye makeup. Adding some concealer to your lids pre-shadow will also help to counteract oil and make your makeup last for longer, without caking and creasing.
Struggle to create the perfect party winged eye? Use your foundation brush
We aren't going to lie - getting your winged eye right can be a battle. So, we love Ashunta's tip of using your foundation brush, with a little of your liquid foundation left on it, to tidy up any mistakes. Simply sweep up and along the outside 'flick' of the liner as an eraser. We love the e.l.f Essential Foundation Brush, which is precise enough to keep your liquid liner intact.
Think of your mascara like New York City
We can't get enough of this handy mascara applying tip - plus it's super easy to remember! When sweeping your mascara onto the top lashes, do it in three stages. First, take it Uptown: brush it from your roots to tips on the underside of your lashes, sweeping upwards. Then go Downtown: do the same, but on the topside of your lashes, sweeping downwards. Finish by taking your wand Crosstown: start at the roots of the lashes and zigzag it upwards to separate and define. This works best when you only load the mascara wand once (don't keep redipping as too much product will build up) and work quickly, so your mascara doesn't dry up and get clumpy as you go.
Applying false lashes? Add extra glue at the end for long lasting power
Ever worn false lashes only to find they've come unstuck half way through the night? Ashunta's tip is to apply a little extra glue right at the end to hold them in place. Once you've stuck them on, line your lash line (exactly where you'd put your liquid liner) with a teensy amount of the glue. Once dried, it will become unnoticeable, but give extra grip to your falsies! Then, you can always paint over it with a glitter liner for extra glam factor. We love Bloom's Glitter Eyeliner - perfect for party time, and oh so RiRi.
There you have it ladies - party eyes a la Rihanna complete! Just be sure to finish with a touch of R'bel Fleur and you'll be good to go!
What are your handy eye makeup tips? Do you love to dance to a bit of RiRi? We definitely might be doing just that at our Christmas party! But don't worry - we'll keep you posted... Lauren
