Want to know how to take your look from winter to spring in under 5 minutes? Check out our top spring-tacular beauty tips for the new season!
The girls at the bb office have been chatting about all things spring related - mostly prompted by the amazing 24 degree day yesterday, here in Melbourne. Whilst our spring wardrobes all need a bit of a boost and our wallets are bracing themselves for the weekend shopping storm (that will no doubt be unleashed on Chadstone come Saturday!) our beauty loots are doing all the work for us on the new season style front. You see, simply switching up a few components of your routine can see you transition from the rugged up days of August to the soft and breezy days of September, faster than you can say pastels. Here are our top picks...
I just made you say it, so it's only fair you get the low down on spring pastels in beauty. Anything goes! Well, almost.
Pastel tones on the nails are a sure fire winner. Try anything that is muted (even toned down fluoros) Don't be afraid to mix and match colours either, like this sandwich loving lass below..
The only kinds of pastels to steer clear of are the shimmery kind that can end up looking a little too icey (remember the frosted shades of the late 90's?) Instead, trial latté, rosey and créme brulee shades on the lids, and peachy toned hues on the lips.
Shiny hair is never not in-season. In fact, it is the perennial 'do, beauty staple. However, spring especially calls for healthy hair and nothing says healthy like locks with megawatt shine! To get yours in great condition, ease off the heat styling tools. But if you must straighten/curl, always use a heat protectant when you do. For added shine, look to a great shampoo and conditioner. I am a huge fan of the Terax range, which never fails to add a healthy dose of shimmer after every wash.
Braid are also a great style to try come spring. They are fresh and youthful and with a bit of practice can be all yours. Try checking out step-by-step tutorials, like this one from The Beauty Department for inspiration.
Stunning spring skin can be attributed to glow-inducing products. We love anything that will add luminosity to your base. Look for moisturising primers, illuminators and sheer bb creams that when used together create a sheer base that lets your natural beauty shine through. Start with a primer to nourish and hydrate skin. Wait around 5 minutes for it to 'sink in', then apply a sheer tinted moisturiser or bb cream on top. Finally, dab on your liquid illuminator to the tops of your cheek bones, down the bridge of your nose and around your brow bones for a glow like no other! You can also mix a little illuminator into your tinted moisturiser/bb cream before applying for an all over glow, plus pressing a tad into the inner corners of your eyes will make you look fresh faced and wide awake (even if you might not be feeling it!)
Take your cues from the spring blooms when it comes to your pout and you'll be in fine beauty form. Look for bright corals, pinks and reds in long wearing lipsticks and glosses. This looks amazing with luminious skin and is best when worn with a pared back eye - mascara is all you should need!
