Cat eyes. They’re the hottest thing around but so hard to get right! But how do you achieve that perfect winged look?
The first thing you need is to choose your product. Either a liquid liner like Eye Of Horus Liquid Define Eyeliner (available in the bellabox store here) or a brush and pot of gel liner. Popular gel liners include MAC Fluidline, Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner and Maybelline Eye Studio Long Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner. Liquid is great once you’ve got your technique down, because it instantly creates a dramatic look. Gel is a little more buildable and the brush gives you a lot of control over what you’re doing. It can also be smudged for a smokey look.
Remember, it’s going to take some practice. Don’t assume that you’re going to get it right the very first time you start playing with liquid liner. If you’re at home one evening with nothing to do, try experimenting with your eyes. It’s better to test it out when you’ve got no pressure rather than trying to get a perfect wing five minutes before you’re due to meet your friends.
We love this simple little four step tutorial that shows how to get that winged look. You don’t need to try and get it all done with one flick of liner. Take your time and fill it in slowly.
Or this little beauty hack – use a piece of transparent tape as your guide. This will give you a perfect straight line with no mess. Just remember to line up the tape on each side before you start, otherwise your wings will be uneven.
Once you’re feeling confident it’s time to experiment or even add some colour. Here are some winged looks that we want to try out!
